what do they do at antenatal classes?

ive got to sort it all out next week, and wondering what kind of stuff they do in the classes.

you see in films and stuff that they do all breathing exercises and things like that, which i kind of hope they dont, because i get the giggles really easily!

so, what to expect?

We're doing the NCT classes and have gone through things like pain relief, what happens in labour/birth, when to go to hospital and some breathing techniques. Like you I get the giggles pretty easily but found the breathing really good. Next week we have a class on breastfeeding and then we're going to go on to basic baby care. It's been nice spending time with other people at a similar stage of pregnancy. Have fun :) xxx

I did bog stadard NHS ones and they were 2 classes, one on the pain relief and 1st stage of labour and 2nd class on 2nd/3rd stage of labour and complications that can arise xzxxx

I have 6 x 2hours of parentcraft classes through our normal NHS service. First week was on signs of labour, second was pain relief, yesterday was infant nutrition so a bit about breast feeding and a bit about formula feeding. Next week is all about breast feeding more in depth. Yesterday we also went across to ward and we were shown what the beds can do and shown baby resuscitation table etc. each week we do 15 mins relaxation exercise. Also a cup of tea half way through and plenty of time to chat to the other girls. We have fathers night in a couple of weeks too. I love it!

thanks ladies :)

i have the tour of the maternity ward tomorrow!! really hope no one starts screaming or anything scary happens!!!
