antenatal classes - worth attending?

hi all

i am due to have my antenatal class next week and i have been hearing mixed messages about whether they are worth attending. I dont want to waste an evening at a class that i dont learn anything from - as this is my first baby both me and OH have done a lot of research as to what to expect. On the other hand I dont want to miss anything important and so wanted to know what you think.

I have a separate breastfeeding class which I will be going to, as I know this will actually be useful!

Personally I didn't get much from the classes I went to. The best part of them was talking to other mums to be at the same stage as me but I can do that on here. I had a really sore back after the classes I went to cause they had us siatting in the most uncomfortable chairs ever for 2 and a half hours! X

i've already done the ones offered to me and some sessions were definately worth attending, however others were absolutely pants. its good to get information on what services are availble in your area and a load of freebies, and we had a talk on reusable nappies; something we would never have considered previously.
Personally I'd rather go and not learn anything rather than not go and miss out on something you would have never considered. Also its good to see other expectant mums in your area - who knows - they might be in the bed next to you in hospital when it comes to D-Day

Snap! Although my OH said he got a better idea from them so it wax worth it in that respect
