Antenatal Classes/Parentcraft

Our hozzie offer Labour in motion classes, its a massage thing for me and OH to learn techniques during labour we have to take a blanket and pillows!! OH looked quite horrified but he is coming along....

I am going to Parent Craft classes alone as they are on a wednesday when OH works late (I think he was relieved) but I feel I need to go to emotionally prepare myself :?

Its a matter of personal choice I think...........

See thats what i thought!

I just can't believe she said it wasnt im so shocked

I have just finished all my NCT run classes and even thought I was a tad sceptical to begin with I have to admit I really enjoyed them. I learned heaps and made some really good mummy to be friends.

We have all made a pact to stay in touch with each other and have organised our next few meetings/lunches/coffee afternoons.

Stick with them honey, you might find you learn something useful and maybe even make some nice friends :cheer:

it did take me back a bit. I didn't expect that to be all we where shown, but i expected it to be part of it. we went through different positions... well, she handed out a leaflet and said that they don't 'recomend' mums to be on their back as it can slow labor down, and the importance of gravity etc...

Sounds like thats the only decent advise shes given you about not going on your back.

Still its a shame that she doesnt think breathing is important.

Id kick up a right fuss if that happened at mine, well we shall see how they go mine start on the 12th November.

:D

I might ask the midwifes on the ward about it tomorrow. See what they think....

We don't have any antenatal classes at our hospital - we have 1 2 hour parent craft workshop. It was over so fast I didn't realise we had done it!

We had 3 15 mintue talks on the midwife led unit, the consultant led unit and what to expect when you go home ( this was basically telling you what colour the baby's poo should be!!!

Then we went and had a look at the wars although we weren't supposed to and the midwife got into trouble!

I did enquire about NCT ones but I was told that I had left it too late!! So won't be having any classes now which I think is a real shame! I have found out a lot of info from books but its not the same is it. I haven't been told anything about breathing... just about not being on your back for the labour part!!!

I would really recommend these types of classes to people.

The only reason I went this time round was to meet people with babies the same age as Brody. I met Beany there!

I am still in touch with moms from first time round with Mason, they are some of my closest friends.
