We start our antenatal classes on Tuesday night and was wondering if I have to take my medical notes with me? . I was also wondering how long classes usually last for, do they take an hour or more ? We have one a lesson a week for 4 wks. Just wondering wether I should have my dinner before I go.
Getting really excited now

Hi

Not sure about the medical notes i know i didnt need them when i went and we had 6 one hour classes. Hope you emjoy them,
Katrina

No, you don't need to take your medical notes with you. Just show up and enjoy the learning. I hope you really enjoy them. Weekly lessons are usually an hour long, we have 8x 1 hour sessions with ours.

i received my antinatel classes letter yesterday. it starts on 10th july. but it only says 3 dates.
do i get more?

Some areas offer you 1 class (all day session) some areas offer you classes in 3 parts, 6 parts and so forth. I have 8 classes but I'm not doing NHS classes but NCT classes instead. Even the NCT classes vary though, some people just get 6 of them, some 4 etc. The number of classes really does differ with areas/regions etc. 3 classes sound perfectly normal to me.

I'm attending NHS Parentcraft classes. My ones run once a week for 5 weeks, each session lasting 2 hours.

only been to see mw not anything else

I went to a full day Parentcraft session at my hospital. I was told to take my notes (and actually needed them on the day after chatting to one MW).

OH and I really enjoyed the full day session. It was easy to focus on the subject and I think it encouraged people to be more open with their questions coz they felt comfortable being there for a while.

The tour of the maternity unit was also a great idea.

I've not had any classes or even been offered any. I read about a baby basics course on the wall at the doctors - lasts 2 hours and is a one-off session. And I had to book that myself.

My midwife sucks :wall:

When I went to classes with my first we were told to take our notes.

Not because they need them (although a few of us did have things written in them.. can't remember what though!) but also because in your 3rd trimester, you should pretty much take your notes with you wereever you go, just in case you have an accident or go into labour.

Have fun in your classes. I really enjoyed mine :D

We're going to the NHS classes and they're 2hrs a week for 6 weeks but that does include the breastfeeding classes. I wasn't asked to bring my notes and haven't needed them.

I keep my notes in my car all the time now as I did have a trip to the hospital a couple of weeks ago and didn't have them with me so just to save hassle they stay in my car.

We had to organise the booking ourselfves too. The mw mentioned it but didnt book anything, she just said to go onto the hospital website to print a booking form
