when are you supposed to start going to these? Im 32 weeks pregnant and they havent even been mentioned to me yet. Afraid Im going to miss them because my mw is useless and doesnt tell me anything

I used to ask at every appointment..........

I have just finished mine, they were run by the local midwives in a room at the Health Centre.

Started them about 4 weeks ago - but there were only 3 in total!

A couple of my friend have done the NCT courses and found them fantastic - they are not cheap, but cover so much!!

I'm doing both NHS and NCT ones! I had to book the NHS ones (and obviously the NCT one) myself, my midwife gave me the number at my booking in appointment and told me to ring sometime after 20wk scan to book. 2 are in January then a breast feeding one in February.

Depends how your area does it, i've heard some ladies get them booked by the midwife for them. Give her a ring to find out asap as time is flying on and classes do get booked up in advance.

I had to book for them at about 12 weeks (NHS classes) coz my MW told me they were really popular. I started them about 31 weeks I think for 4 weeks and a couple of additional classes for breastfeeding and waterbirth...........

I'm sure you should have heard something by now

Ive got a scan booked for new years eve so I will ask them when Im up there. I doubt asking now would make much difference with xmas and new year looming

do you get them 2nd time around just out of interest? I went to one with alice and then missed the rest as i was up the hospital every day after that...

i don't need it so much for the info, but when i went to the mother and baby groups people where already in little groups from their ante natal classes and i felt a bit left out..

I just had one very long session (NHS) at 35 weeks - just over 6 hours! I wouldn't go again if I knew it was going to be so useless!!

I was meant to have 6, 3 during the day for mums, and 3 evening ones for mums and dads.

I had 2 days ones and one was cancelled, and they only ran 2 evening ones in the end, they finished last week.

I also had an extra Physio one, run by the physio dept in our local hospital too, which was good.

All finsihed now ! hope I dont forget everything by time baby is here !

Mine were booked in at my 28 week appointment, they start on the 8th jan so Ill be nearly 34 weeks and only last 3 weeks. Id ask as soon as you can coz I think you should of started them by now?

Are you going to be in Tracey's classes Nik?

Gatecrashing I know - sorry!

I've booked NCT and NHS ones. My MW said I should sort the NHS ones with the hospital myself - she doesn't get involved (MW is a different trust to hozzie). But hospital never mentioned it, no posters or anything at either of my scans, so I looked on their website a week or so back and booked via a PDF I downloaded directly. Have got 3 in Feb, plus a physio one in Jan.

Maybe it's something they expect you to sort yourself? I would've been waiting forever (literally!) if I waited for someone to tell me

Yeah I am I cant wait! Im really excited about them!

i've had the same problem - MW nver mentioned anything about them and the next one starts 7th jan - well i'm due with twins 14th feb so unlikely i'm going to want to move then!

also she told me it's not going to be all that helpful to me as they are geared towards singletons not twins.....really in 2 minds about whether to bother.

Youre due the same date as me!

I asked my step sister earlier as shes 3 weeks ahead and while registered at a different doctors surgery we are within the same trust. She said I probably need to ask about them as she didnt go to any on her first pregnancy and hasnt on this one.

Ive looked at the NCT ones but there is no way I can afford the £135 they are asking for it
