One of the mummies in tri 2 mentioned that babies may react to certain nappies. This has confused me now as I'm unsure what I buy. I wouldn't have ever thought that babies may react to nappies. Is there a specific brand that's recommended or do we just buy small packs of different nappies to try?

I feel like I ask the most stupid questions, you can tell I'm a first time mum right lol? xx

Hey hun I am I just buying small packets of nappies and doing a trial and error xx

I'm just buying a pack of two different brands for in the hospital, if neither causes a reaction or if they don't leak then great I can use both brands but if she does then it doesn't matter because I'll have a back up. I'm going for Aldi and another brand, I think we're sticking to supermarket brands as I've heard that Pampers are known for not fitting properly on many babies and they also cost a fortune compared to supermarket brands or Boots own.

If, on the off chance, both brands I pick don't fit her properly or she has a reaction then I'll just have to send someone out to pick up a different brand to try. Aldi sell theirs for £1.50 per 24, they're also award winning with lots of good reviews. Almost sounds too good to be true but for £1.50 it's worth a shot!

I've bought little angels from Asda, they've always worked fine so far so hoping this baby is the same. If you want to try different brands then just get some small packs and see. :) x

Thanks for your replies ladies! I'll do just that sugar xx

Just wanted to say it's rare for babies to have a reaction to nappies, please don't worry. It's worth trying different brands to see what suits your baby best. I found Asda and pampers best last time and Morrisons leaked! But some of my friends loved Morrisons. The advice is not to stock up until you're happy with a brand x

It's good to know that reactions aren't common. Thank you hun, I will definitely try a couple xx

Was it me that said about the reaction? If so, I didn't mean to panic you! I agree with the others, just try loads of different brands.

Reactions aren't common, but nappies definitely fit different depending on the baby.

I found with DS pampers were horrific, whereas huggies fit beautifully.
Two years on and he's been in just about every brand available. Pampers are the only brand I'll actively avoid for him now.

I've got Tesco, Aldi, and yes, Pampers ready for titch when she comes.
Just because pampers sucked for DS... They may be the best on her, we'll see. Xx

I would say pampers for when they're older and own brand supermarkets when they're younger.

I like tesco own brand.

With my first we tried every supermarket brand and pampers. We found Aldi's worked best for us which was nice as they worked out the cheapest! This time I've bought a small pack of Aldi newborn nappies and a small pack of tesco nappies. Will see which ones work best for this baba x

Everyone is saying how good these aldi nappies are. There's no aldi around where I live, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled, or google it even haha. Thanks ladies xx

I have only bought enough nappies for the first week. Asda have a baby event on atm (tbh they always seem to...!) and I bought a box of 80 newborn sized nappies for £5 so will see how we go with them x

My daughter reacted badly to Morrisons own brand nappies, but her skin is very sensitive (she's taken after my MIL who can't wear perfume or use scented stuff at all). My son never reacted to any brand we tried. It's more the fit that can be a problem. Both mine are in Sainsbury's own and we've never had problems with these.

TBH, it's never a good idea to buy loads of nappies for a newborn anyway. They don't always fit the smallest size for very long! I'd go for one pack of whatever you think you might like to try and go from there. We used Pampers to start with but quickly found that supermarket own was just as good and much cheaper.
