Have my scan at 21 weeks +1 day next week Tuesday and really nervous!

What can I expect? Baby's heart has always been strong, very low risk of DS and scan perfect 12 weeks, what can they find out now? I want to be reassured but still so scared when they go so much in detail.

x

They will check all baby's organs, including lips and palette, length of limbs, fluid level and I think the blood flow through the cord both ways, they spend a lot of time quiet and measuring and re measuring but don't be alarmed by this they have to get them right.
It's lovely to see all bits of baby but can dig in your tummy some times. I had to go back because my little girls heart was right under my belly button and they couldn't get measurements properly.

Pretty much the same as above. Lots of measuring of things. Babies tend to be wriggly so they do a few to make sure they are right.

Our sonographer was brilliant and pointed out all the vital bits. It also allows you the chance to see gender if you want to know

I've got mine on Monday!! I'll be nervous too, although the girl who scanned me at 15 weeks said she was able to do some of the 20 week checks then. It's still v nerve wracking though. Good luck xx

I have got mine 2 weeks today, and I don't remember much from my last pregnancy, but I do remember it being amazing. I was really lucky and had like an hour and a half of scanning and I loved every minute.

Yeah they go into lots and lots of detail to check over absolutely everything which is so nice to see, you will be fully reassured, dont worry your baby will be absolutely fine, how exciting xxx

An hour and a half? Wow, we were in and out within about 20 mins!
The most amazing part and most different to our other scans I found was seeing the heart in colour, red for blood going in and blue for blood coming out :)
I'm sure everything will be great, enjoy it xx

My NT scan lasted an hour so I'm not holding out much hope that baby will co-operate this time either lol.

My midwife said they also look at all the organs and if there are any 'issues', a specialist in that field will do a detailed scan.

I'm super scared.. I feel like it's the hurdle I always dreamt of getting to and praying that we get past it. All i can say is I think it's completely normal to be worried xxx

Thanks everyone! I am very nervous but also excited! Baby is moving more and more which is so reassuring but still different to see her :)

Will update tomorrow after my scan xxx

Good luck for tomorrow Maria, I'm sure you'll be told how perfect your little girl is :) xx

I was in for an hour with my 20w because Jackson was lying kinda breech at my 20w (his face was at my belly button) so I was scanned for quite a while trying to get baby moved.

They basically just took measurements, and we found out the gender. I dont really remember much else, except how painful it was because she had to dig right in to my bump, and I was bursting for a pee.

xxxx

Not bursting but yes a full bladder helps a clear view for measuring and pics.

xxxx

My scan is in a couple of hours. At work now luckily so cant worry to much but as soon as I think about it I get really nervous! wish me luck! xxx

eeee how exciting good luck!!

please update with a pic if you can :D

xxxx

Thanks ladies!

Just back and all good! So happy. She was moving around a lot but managed to get a few pictures as well. Everything seems completely normal!

So happy xx

I have my anomaly scan Tomorrow. Will they tell me if I have a anterior/posterior placenta. I had a posterior with the boys but sure this time it's anterior as the movements and kicks don't feel as strong as what they did with them x

Awwww... gorgeous pic :)
Back ourselves for a follow up scan tomorrow to check a kidney.

Charlene - if they don't mention it, ask them - they'll tell you. Or it'll be in your notes ;)
