Hi Ladies!

I guess this is just a hi from me on this forum!

We have an appointment with a consultant next Monday. We have gone private so hopefully everything should be nice and fast.

Both had some initial testing done, bloods etc and nothing major come up. OH had low sperm morphology and is just waiting for results back on a second test. My 21 day bloods showed O as being unlikely but I THINK that was because I ovulated late.

Currently about two weeks late for AF but lots of BFN's and a negative blood test too.

Any ideas what the consultant might suggest as a first point of call? I am assuming more testing? Would be great to hear of any of your personal experiences.

Xxx

Hiya :-)
Have you had any ultrasounds or the dye test yet?
We went private too we are in Essex also and used Nuffield in Brentwood :-) private does move a lot faster and smoother, usually the initial consultation will go through tests, talk about steps and usually outline a plan of action :-) x

Hiya, exciting times, hope you have a good appointment.

We haven't gone private yet as we are waiting for our free goes on the NHS but our first NHS appointment was lots of paperwork, family/medical history, arranging more tests, we already knew I had pcos but I needed to have more appointments to confirm and there was also a question over whether or not I have a heart shaped uterus as some scans had indicated I did and others not mentioned it. We had more tests arrange, yet more ultrasounds and bloods as well as a hsg for me and SA x2 for my oh. On the appointment after that we discussed results and treatment options and decided I didn't need any further testing before starting treatment. As my blood tests have always been on the low side for ov and my oh SA have been ok we are starting with clomid. I didn't find the consultant helpful at all, he wasn't interested in answering our questions and was fairly rude. TBH it is one reason we aren't going private as it is with the same consultant and I don't want to pay to be insulted. Whether his attitude would be different if we were one of his private clients I don't know.

Let us know how you get on and I would also be interested to hear your costs if you are willing to share as I can see us having to go down this route in the end.

Morning! :)

No I havent had either of those tests yet so I assume that will be on my list! Can you have them done any time in your cycle?

Oh, what a coincidence, thats the clinic we are using!! :) What has your experience been like with them like so far? Are they quite flexible with appointment times as I am struggle to find excuses for going in to work late/leaving early! ha ha Although I might just say to work that I dont want to discuss why but I need to be able to make appointments as and when I need to etc...

Snowbee - have you started clomid yet? How are you finding it if so? Thats not good that you didnt find the consultant helpful nothing worse at a time like this is there! I once left a GP surgery in tears because of an awful GP, it just not on! If you did go private would you have no other options as a consultant? Maybe you could go somewhere a little further away that would provide a nicer experience?

I hope the nursing staff you are dealing with are a little nicer anyway!

Of course!! If i were you I would ask for copies of any recent tests, it is all your information so they shouldnt say no. I was told that any test within the last 3 months would be valid and accepted by my private consultant so could save some pennies. I know it is going to be super expensive but the wait for my area on the NHS is very long and I was told that because of our age we are not seen as being in any real rursh - easy enough for someone else to say!!

Anyway - I hope this finds you both well on this lovely sunny Monday! I was off on Thursday and Friday last week as I was just having some seriously down days about all of this! Feeling much more positive and back in the game today though, need to keep that up! ha ha xxx

We went private for Clomid :) first consultation was going over results and discussing what to do next.
Our consultant is lovely and all the nursing staff are great too and everything has been a lot quicker than if it where on the nhs. We are starting Clomid next cycle and he says I come in on day 2 for a scan and also day 10 for a scan to check on follicles :). Xx

I found them really lovely, so much quicker than the NHS and they are very flexible, its quite a small set up but its private and discret which is nice and they worked around working hours and do early mornings and eve appointments too.

Some of the tests may need to be done at a certain time but they will explain all of that to you too x

Fingers crossed for you next cycle then!!

Did you have scans etc before going on to clomid too?xxx

We had a scan as part of our consultation yeah :) and OH had his SA repeated. They just accepted my bloods from the nhs :) . They would of accepted all our nhs results but it the SA and scan was included in the price of initial consultation :) xx

Oh that's good! :-)

They are accepting our nhs results too thankfully! Saves some time and money! I am actually really looking forward to my consultation now, I feel like we are going to finally get somewhere!

Seriously-I spent so much time trying to not get pregnant thinking it would happen as soon as I made the tiniest mistake, how wrong was I!! X
