I probably am, but I'm convince Kaiden has a heart problem! I have felt this way ever since he was about 3 weeks old. He sweats from his head when he's feeding and he also makes a funny noise when he's exhaling if he gets over excited or cries too much, I've only noticed the noise when he's lying on my chest so there's like pressure on his chest iykwim? It's like a wheeze noise. I mentioned it to the doctor before and she said it was because he had a cold, but. Just can't shake this feeling of something being wrong. Do I wait til my hv comes out next tues or do I go to docs again this week? Xx

If you are worried then go to the docs for a chat and a checkup. You could always ring NHS direct to talk it through and get advice.

I'm not overly worried that I can't wait, he seems fine in himself but I just wondered if anyone has experience of a baby with heart defect? Xx

im sure if he had a heart defect you would know by now....alot of babies sweat when they are feeding, how old is he? babies make lots of noises, just get the dr to listen to his heart to reassure you but im sure hes fine xx

I'm taking him to the doctors today, I just can't get it out of my mind!! Am I the only person who worries unnecessarily!!!! I drive myself mad thinking something's wrong with him!
He's 17 weeks old tomorrow. What bothers me is that at his 6 week check she listened to his heart after she had manipulated his hips and he was in a right state so only listened for a few seconds xx

I think you are doing the right thing getting him checked out, if for nothing other than to put your mind at rest.

I'm constantly worried about Aaron's heart, even though he's been signed off by cardiology. Most babies with DS have heart defects, Aaron has a small one when born but it sorted itself out. I get constantly worried that they have missed something

Let us know how you get on xx

Hope it went okay at the doctors today, better safe than sorry :)

I'm constantly paranoid about Alex's health - I've convinced myself he's got a different, but equally horrible, problem practically each week since he was born... the only problem he actually has is eczema, which is hardly life threatening. I've not taken him to the doctor for each thing, but only because in my mind I've known that I'm being daft and when I've spoken to my OH he's reassured me that I'm mad (in a nice way  ).

If I'm really worried about something then I do always take him to the doctors. Normally the out of hours one because everything always seems more worrying at the end of a long day :wall2:

Hiya just back from docs. She Listened to his heart and said its perfectly fine and his lungs are clear. She thinks maybe he's developing symptoms of asthma but they can't diagnose until 5 years old. She reassured me and told me never to feel silly for taking him to be checked over and she would rather I did that than to sit at home worrying myself silly :)
On a bonus she gave me oilatum bath lotion on prescription 500ml and some coconut oil for his head as I think the oilatum has stopped working on the cradle cap. Saved myself a few pennies there, if you don't ask you don't get, right? Xxx

Hurrah for a nice GP, and hurrah for his heart and lungs being clear :) I realise it might be hard to diagnose asthma in a baby, but why do they have to wait until they're five?!

It's because she says the won't really exert themselves until that age? But she did say that they would teat him for asthma if he's showing signs before then - makes sense- not lol xx

Alfie had this :( he used to wheeze :( And although they wouldn't formally diagnose asthma they have him two inhalers and steroids when it got bad! Hope he's ok xx

Hey love-sorry I just seen this.

My nephew T was diagnosed with asthma at 2 years old. He was always wheezing and play/exertion was hard on him. Always sleepy but would have 12+hours a night and boy does he snore!! He had to carry steroids for when an attack came on and the inhaler didn't work. I remember them saying at the time it was rare to diagnose asthma b4 school age cause that's when they truly exert themselves and lungs should be at a more mature stage. T has suffered for years but recently he's turned the corner and they assume he's starting to grow out of it. Last bad attack he had was on the way home from our holiday! The 9 hour car drive was not fun!!

I'd always say trust ur instincts and see how he goes :)

Xxxx

Im glad the doc has been able to reassure you but if it helps my LO is the same. He gets a very sweaty head when feeding, crying and wearing hats! He also makes what i call a kind of pigeon sound when he sleeps or cry (listening to him coo away right now between snores). I had him checked by GP too as was wortied bout his breathing. He's sadly got my sinuses and a cold that he hasnt yet fully shifted. I always say, if in doubt, check it out!X
