And I have a bump, is this normal? It's not flabby but firm. I'm 5'3 and normally around 8 and a half stone so not sure if that is why :) I had my first midwife appointment yesterday and back in two weeks for my bloods.

Also the doctor put me on folic acid over a week ago, but the midwife advised me to get a pregnancy vitamin, which I have, and this also contains folic acid. Not sure whether to phone and check I'm not taking too much as that's what I was advised to do :oooo:

You do tend to bloat a lot in the first tri especially early on.
I just take folic acid, I never remembered to take a pregnancy vitamin last time, I think if you lead a healthy diet then there is no real need.

I wouldn't take folic acid and a vitamin Hun. Just either or. My local midwives have always recommended pregnacare. With this baby and my last. Xxx

Boots pregnancy vits are good and they also have ginger in them to help with digestive help and nausea. x

I'm just over 8 weeks with twins and have hardly any trousers that fit. I don't think it's bump - I've always had a bit of a pot belly so it's definitely still podgy. We were on holiday for a fortnight after we found out so it's probably a bit of holiday weight plus the fact I'm having to eat constantly to keep nausea at bay. I have no doubt it won't be long before I'm showing though.

I would just take either the vits or the folic acid. Is it the one with folic acid, vit d and vit c she recommended? I'm taking them all but separately as already had folic acid and vit c in house.

Hi guys it's the Centrum pregnancy care one that I have. I'll just take that on its own. I'm back at midwife next week so can speak to them about it.

Just to section hop, what dose of folic acid did your doctor give you? as sometimes due to family history or certain risk factors they put you on a higher dose than normal and it is essential you take them. I have to take a higher dose due to there being a family history of spina bifida. In that case the pregnacare dose will not cover it. x

He put me on 400, I was previously on 500 folic acid and vitamin b12 just over a year or so ago for 6 months as it was low in my blood. So, he said it should still be quite high within my blood as it wasn't so long ago I was taking them.

I'm pregnant with my 4th and have mega bloat going on so I look about 13 weeks instead of 9 haha. I'm wearing baggy and floaty tops to try to hide it but because I had a baby 7 month ago I think people are just assuming I'm not bothered about getting back into shape haha. Little do they know yet ;-) ill upload a pic when I get home from the school run xx

If you have something like Pregnacare, then you don't need to take Folic Acid separately too :)
