Hiya!

Jack is 5 weeks old now and seems to have caught my OH's cough and is also a bit snuffly. Is there anything I can use at his age to help him breathe a bit better? I'm thinking Karvol drops on his muzzy might help but i'm not sure what age they can be used from? Don't really want to send OH back out when he gets home from work to get some if Jack can't use them yet.

Thanks x

You can't use Karvol til 4 months I think, when Caitlin was snuffly at that age I was told by Doctor the only thing you can use is saline spray, calpol due one and it does work, and raise the head of his crib a few inches to help him breathe when sleeping, hope he feels better soon x

Apparently there are also these things you can get which suck the snot out of their nose if it gets really bad...not tried that one yet lol! Hope he feels better soon x

Thanks girls, he seems to be coping well with it on his own at the moment but if it gets any worse i'll get a saline spray x

Calpol do a nasal spray which i found really good when Tegan was tiny xx

I bought a euculuptus oil in the poundshop, few drops on a damp flannel n on to the radiator, really worked x

Dale has a cold tooand he six weeks my health visitor told me there was nothing i can use just now :-(
He is ok during the day its at night he sounds bad really bunged up hope jack better soon x

Awww poor Jack! Emily has a cold too. She's nearly 10 weeks so I gave her some calpol yesterday. I also raised her mattress a bit. I've got one of those nasal aspirators that becki is talking about that sucks the snot out, haha I think it's quite funny but she's not a big fan. Ive also put a bowl of water under the radiator in her room. Believe it or not but it's been a bit cold up here I'm good old Aberdeen! So I've had the heating on a few times just for half an hour or so. I pit the tiniest amount of olbas oil on her blankie. But I'm not sure you could do that since jack is younger. It's her cough that seems worse than her nose, you can can hear the snot at the back but so far it's not runny!

Is he feeding ok? Is he more sleepy?

Emily is feeding fine but she's a sleepy little thing the last couple of days.

Hope he feels better soon!
