... you MUST try and do a weekly shop there sometime! The fruit and veg and uncooked meat is really good quality and sooo much cheaper than the big 5 supermarkets. We're saving about £20 per week shopping there, no recognisable brand names, not too fussed on their cooked meats so this week Ive bought an uncooked ham to have for dinner tonight and sandwiches rest of the week.

I cant rave about the place enough, I wish we'd discovered it earlier!

I've never been in one  Might go have a look now!

I wish we had one a bit closer and I'd definitely go. My friend is French and she said that lots of the brands you get there are big brands over in France, so she loves it!

Once I get into this SAHM lark I'll be checking it out :)

I like Aldi and Lidl is good too, infact I may head up there now to get some fruit and veg.... thanks Tiny :D

Tiny, have just got back, u didn't say that the packs of fruit were only 59p!!! I got a bag of apples, bag lemons, pineapple, bag lemons and a bag of oranges for 59p each!!! I've just got to eat it all now... oh and the plums (they had run out of grapes :()

You're gonna be puppin' through the eye of a needle after that lot!

We dont have a local Aldi - I might try and do a shop in one though for this fortnight, we've been spending £180 a fortnight in Asda..hmmm I wonder if I can do it, anyone know what their nappies are like? Might be worth sticking to Huggies perhaps thinking about it..I'll give the rest of it a go though! I always get my meat from the butchers since I cannot deal with supermarket packaging but the rest of the shopping should be worth a go - Cheers Tiny! :)

59p for packs of fruit!?!?! right that's sorted, aldi shopping it is!!! it deffo sounds bit better for me as we live in a flat and food goes off VERY quickly when it's just me and OH. thanks guys! xxx

my flat's next door to morrisons and like 100 yards from aldi :D i cant wait to move in, i'm gona save so much money! even tho i get tescos discount, its still cheaper to do morrisons and aldi!! and the quality's fantastic, aldi's cheap orange juice is amazing!!

I got a punnet of white grapes for 45p today :) usually theyve all gone and I buy the 99p red grapes! Still a bargain when you consider what you pay in Tesco (other supermarkets are available folks!) And they're actualy ful too!

Rosie's mummy: Aldi nappies are fine. I've always been a proper nappy snob but I picked up a packet of pull-ups the other day and they are fine. I only did it because SIL told me that she'd switched to their nappies as an experiment and they were fine (similar quality to Huggies. :) If you use the Aldi in Quedgeley it's over the road from Tesco so you can always pick up anything you couldn't get in Aldi at the same time.

Good to hear their nappies are good, My mum bought some asda value ones (smart price or whatever they call it) for newborn and I got some pampers, we pulled 2 out and I honestly think they might be made inthe same factory, I could not for the life of me see any difference in the shape, the stitching, the stickers, they just had different pictures on them. I seriously wouldve been a nappy snob but Im converted even before the baby is born! Id give Aldi a try, a lot of their products are really good quality but not well known brands, and at the end of the day, how much of your money for the pampers/huggies goes into making the nappy and how much goes to thier advertising costs?!

Aldi is not the most attractive of shops but its brilliant value. I don't do my shopping there but i call in every week for bits and bobs. Saves us loads of money xx

Aldi is fab, but why are things cheaper in aldi in UK then in Germany when it is a german shop!!! There fruit and veg is fab value!

Probably something to do with the Euro, but I dont understand economics very well so I wouldn't know. All I know is its cheap, but you get better quality than in Tesco, so Im happy! Ive been converting people in the staffroom this week!

Talking about cheap fruit I got a pack of kiwi fruits (4 or them), a pack of pears (4 of them again) and and pack of apples (4 of them) for 30p each in Morrisons yesterday. Am happily scoffing as I type :) Oh, and a puinnet of plums for 59p. Not bad eh?

We called into Aldi yesterday, I didnt think it was that cheap tbh.

I mean somethings were but I guess I was put off when my finger went through a rotten cucumber :puke:

I love morrisons deals and I've found their meat is good too. I'm off for some 30p fruit and veg and some robinsons juice for 59p later!

We have an Aldi close by as well as 3 Lidl stores.... I really like Lidl, but our Aldi is a bit hit-and-miss. Sometimes there are great bargains, other times it's nearly rotten fruit and veggies :puke:

We don't do our regular grocery shop at either store, but do pop in often to see what's what :)

Thats really good, Im gonna have to explore morrisons too. This poor baby is going to think a day out is atrip to 4 different supermarkets!

Im surprised there is rotten fruit in your local Aldis, maybe it varies a lot? Our store often runs out of stuff by the end of the day, and to be honest I dont mind cos I know they get fresh every morning, Id rather that than overstocking and letting things rot! ewwwwww!!
