myself and my husband picked our names well before we fell pregnant, and we are so happy with them, but all of our family and friends hate the names (bar my mum and sister) They are all being so thoughtless with the things they are saying about the names and it is really starting to upset me! Yes they may be "different" names, but that is why I have chosen them!

oh by the way, the names are

boy: Orton William Davies
girl: Dolly Jean Davies

:)

Ignore them hun! Your baby your names!! I rather like Orton and a friend has a little girl named Dolly. She got a few comments at first but if you like it you should go with it. I've heard much sillier names than these out there!

Hmm, it's tricky because you shouldn't have told them. Any time you tell someone anything, it is opening them up to comment. They have a right to be honest and perhaps it was a bit naive to expect them to gush over names that they don't like.

I think that you should take their critisim on board, maybe they have a point, but if you really love the names then you need to stick with them xx

My mum has an opinion on every name I say to her and my names aren't even that 'out there'!

It's your decision at the end of the day, I think telling people names is like giving them an open invite to criticize. So annoying!x

I had the same problem all th names i liked i got looks so i compromised with Keira plus was the first name i picked.

Love Orton but not a fan of dolly, just because i wouldnt wanna be called dolly as as adult xxx

Dolly was my nannies names, and I always wished it was my name. She was always so elegant, and the name suited her so perfectly :) xx

I certianly didn't expect them to gush over the names haha, our first little girl is named Eviee, and when we announced her name they did the same, and I could easily name 10 Evie's that I know! that is why we are going for a more unique name this time, it seemed that after we had our Eviee, there seemed to be an Evie boom haha! I definitely will be sticking to our name choices because I think they are beautiful, and they have a sentimental meaning to us. I'm so excited, just wish it wasn't so far away :( x

Good for you! It's nice when names have sentimental value too x

I think they are both lovely! Chantelle and Alex named their girl Dolly according to the radio today!

My brother hated our boys name choice (Dexter Grant) despite using his name as the middle name. He said it sounded chavy and reminded him of the detective show....we had never heard of it.

People will always have an opinion, sod them tho! Go with what you love. I honestly think they are adorable! Xxx
