Hi Mums

I realise it's a bit premature (I am not even 20 weeks) but my hubby and I are going to take advantage of the Mamas and Papas sale and get this range (50% off!):

http://www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/range/oc ... -oak/3192/

We are thinking we should get the whole range as we don't want to find that in a year or so we wish we got a piece and it's no longer made.

Questions- is that a good idea? If not, what pieces are a must and what are a waste of time?
Also, we thought we would get the whole range as the cot turns into a day bed and the lady said we could use it as a bed up to 4-5 years of age. But, Mums, would we do this? PIC:

It will still have one side attached (I guess up against the wall). Would that look funny for a 4-5 year old?

My plan is to get it and even if I want a new range when baby is 3-4 there SHOULD be another baby by then so it will get a 2nd use. Is that a good plan????

Advice would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to say I love it and I'm sure it would last for your next baby as looks to be really good quality. I think it looks lovely as a bed - much nicer than our boring old plain pine cot bed!

Thanks! we love it too- it is a bit of an investment - but it's solid oak so should last a couple of kids!

Any ideas on what pieces? I think we will go for all...

We bought a cot bed, changing unit, toy box, wardrobe and shelving unit all in one of the Mamas & Papas ranges - although bought 2nd hand off ebay (and its like new).

I havent actually used all the items yet, but can say that the wardrobe is full, the storage of the changing unit is almost full, and the toybox is great at this stage for storing feeding pillow, bedding etc........

I think if you have the room then go for all the bits you like!!

How do little people have so much stuff? lol

I'd say get as much storage as you can, you'll need it! That collection is really nice - you might as well get what you can while it's cheap!

That looks lovely! SIL has the changing unit with drawers (though in natural oak) and I am very jealous! I wish we had got that instead of the changing unit with open shelves that we got. It will look fine as a chest of drawers as well as the raised edge isn't hugely high.

Thanks for the advice ladies. We will go for it all!

Cheers

Lol too late to advise

Anyway just wanted to say they look nice :)
I was going to get a cot bed but then we got given a 2nd hand cot by a work friend so figured we'll just use that until he's 2yrs old and/or outgrown it and then get him a single bed and just put one of those side bumper things on to stop him rolling out if it looks like it'll be a problem.

To be honest my wardrobe is hardly used in the nursery  But he has 2 chests of drawers that are definately worth the money and an old canvas shoe stand which we no longer use and I have popped his teddies on it instead :D
I've just got one of those plastic 3 tray dawers on wheels as well for the kitchen where I've put his bottles and baby medicines to keep them safe and clean.
The other things I have which are a God send are a cheapie £1 pop up clothes basket for his laundry, a sperate change mat for upstairs (night time changing) which is just placed on one of his chests of drawers so no need for an expensive changing table  and I got the starter johnsons baby changing box set and just reuse the box all the time to keep his nappies and wipes in - keeps them nice and tidy

I was in the M&P shop in Glasgow today and this set is absolutely bloody gorgeous. I absolutely LOVE oak, we have the M&P oak Sherwood cot but Ikea furniture because solid oak furniture is way beyond our budget. It is stunning so if you can afford it, DEFINITELY go for it!

I love this range! It is so stunning and if we were decorating from scratch I would go for this myself. If you have the space for all the pieces hon, I'd go for it all, you'd be gutted if you wanted another piece in a years time and it was discontinued.

We brought the squares range from John Lewis 2 1/2 years ago without the bookshelf and I desperately wanted the bookshelf last year but found they had discontinued it.

Cot Beds are great, my girl is still in hers where as alot of my friends are having to move their 2 year olds in to beds as the little ones have started to climb out of their cots.
