Hello, when my LO is born in a few weeks I am hoping to breastfeed, but am worried I won't produce enough milk. I am keeping options open for combi feeding just incase. I haven't bought a steriliser/bottles yet- does anyone have advice on any brands that are best for combi feeding? I've heard some people say some teats are designed to be more similar to the nipple to compliment breastfeeding? X

Why are you concerned you won't produce enough milk? I'm sure you'll be absolutely fine.

With regards to bottles. I used Tommee Tippee closer to nature as that's the breast pump I have. For sterilising I just used milton cold water tablets and bought a 5 litre sealable plastic container to sterilise in.

You do need to be really positive regarding breastfeeding - go at it with the attitude that you will be successful and cross any bridges if and when they happen. You don't need to make any contingency plans as if BF doesn't work out you can easily pop out and buy formula etc. You do need to persevere as it is really really hard at first - harder than any of the classes or literature suggest but once you have cracked it it's amazing!! I could so easily have given up at 10 days but am so pleased I stuck at it - 6 weeks now and plain sailing!!

A tip I found a lifesaver was to put the lansinoh on after every feed and then cover your nipples with cling film - stops the cream rubbing off and your nipples drying out (just remember to remove it before trying to feed!!).

Thanks for the tip! I'm trying to be positive- only reason I think I may not produce enough is my mum and sisters didn't and they all went onto full time bottle feeding. I haven't bought any bottles or steriliser as yet as I'm determined to try my hardest, but if I need to go out and buy one quickly I wondered of there was a particular brand that was best for combi feeding.
