Liam seems to be the type of child that really suffers from colds, especially whilst teething.

Anyone recommend anything good to help him with these colds. Bless him, he is always smiling through it, but at night time he is really coughing and suffering.

xx

thanks for replying.

my other 2 boys didnt really suffer as bad as Liam. With the others we used to give them Calpol. But Liam seems exceptionally bad at night. we did have a nasal aspirator but i was always hesitant to use it, but i decided to give it a go last night and DH has thrown it away.

My BIL said that we should suck out the mucas, but i love my boys but i just couldnt, urgh.

there isnt much you can do, hope wakes through the night when she has a cold, all i do in bed is put a blanket under her head to help her breath better and keep her warm, try vic vapour rub xx

I swear by Medised for colds especially at night as it has something that helps them breathes better
That and Karvol drops on a bib tied to cot

hi Jo

Yes that's what we use, Medised, i think Dionne recommended it to someone else a while ago. It's just that last night he really was suffering.

Sorry hun, apart from the Karvol i dunno what else to suggest
I think they do a plug in thing for that now aswell

i was going to say karvol! i pop it on a bit of cloth then place taht under his fitted sheet (it looks like its stained it but i have always founf it comes out ok in the wash)

horrid when you cant sdo anything isnt it? alex is still really rattly in his chest after his cold. i keep wanted to cough and clear my throat even though its him not me!

Karvol
Medised
Vicks

Try raising the end of the cot so that his head is raised it night help clear his chest a bit by not being completely flat.

If hes prone to colds he might need a little boost to his immune system, maybe try giving him extra fruit each day as the vitamin c should help.

Hope the poor little mite feels better soon xxxx

We use Medised, great stuff & i'll put a few drops of Olbas oil on his sheets, thts really helps too.

thanks ladies, some good advice there.

we do presently use medised and Karvol drops. Will try raising his cot again and see if this helps.

He does eat a lot of fruit and veg but maybe i should be giving him vitamin drops. It seems that his immune drops when he is teething.

i think he needs double the cuddles as well.

xxx

Poor liam, i can't offer any advice which hasnt been said already, but just wanted give my support and hope that he sleeps better tonight

The suction thing really helps them out alot hun, i hated doing it to Jaycee at first but she suffered with colds all the time! She still does!! (we have colds at the mo! :x ) And she hasnt got the hang of blowing her nose yet so we still use the suction thing. She's used to it now. They wont like it at first but then they'll understand why when they can breathe better! Tyxilix(sp) is amazing too! I used to have it as a child too and loved it! It tastesd lovely and does the trick!! Makes her sleep so much better!

I hope he feels better soon hun, i know how tough it is dealing with colds all the time!

I use medised and the karvol plug-in thing.

I also put a soaking wet towel over his radiator before bedtime to help loosen the mucus, and raise the end of his cot by putting a pillow under the mattress.

Hope he gets better soon

xx
