Hey girls, was thinking of getting my nails done to brighten my mood but not sure if its the best idea for when baby is here? Or I could get the stick on ones so I have the option of taking them off.
Anyone already got them or have any thoughts? xxxx

I wore the acryllic ones for work because they are more blunt and less likely to puncture elderly skin. I have been told though that they don't like it on the labour ward in case they need to check your nails for oxygen levels or something, they turn blue I think.......I might wear blue nail varnish just to piss em off lol

I have acrylic nails done every month and I will continue to once bubs is here as well, it's my one treat to myself every month and they look better for work, I always have them short and don;t generally have them painted, maybe just the tip.

For when baby comes I am thinking of having them taken off or at least leave them totally unpainted so they can still see the nail beds, and then I will get them done again after...

I love having them done and it's so relaxing :) it;s only once a month I get them done so no harm to baby either as it's not increased exposure to normal.

xxxx

If I had stick on's I think I would worry about one coming off and staying in babies nappy lol :)

Hahahaha bella

I had acryllic, but they are a pain in the arse if they break or split cos you have to go back and have them re-done

Oh yeah didnt think of that ha I have great natural nails but they r all different lengths and break xx

i have bio-gel on my nails and will continue to do so..no-one has mentioned anything to me about not being able to have them so i'm carrying on - in fact getting them done tongiht!!

Like Bella its my one treat that have done every month and i wouldn't be without them, as I love the fact i can't break them!

They can put the O2 machine on your toe as long as you have no nail varnish on. I havent had me nails done I read somewhere that nail varnish is bad for baby so I figured false nails are a no no with all the fumes etc? Maybe ask
Midwife?

There is so much stuff that we are already avoiding for the sake of an hour sat in a salon getting them done that is well ventilated, I'm gonna carry on having them :)

They do say that if you regularly use nail varnish there 'could' be an issue but again nothing has been proven....until it's proven i'm sticking to it lol

xxxx

Acrylic nails are safe to have done, if your concerned you could wear a face mask as the biggest problem is the bits that come off when filing. I did lots of research into this as I used to do acrylic nails I stopped when pg with my 1st as I didnt want to risk it especially been in contact with so often but an your every couple of weeks wont hurt.

I stopped wearing mine and opted for short natural as it was easier to keep clean and maintain than acrylic.
