A few glasses of beer/wine when pregnant/breastfeeding?

I enjoyed the odd glass of wine when pregnant and have never regretted my decision.
me too.
So long as you're sensible and don't go binge drinking its ok IMO.

Didn't drink at all while pg (didn't fancy it so wasn't a big loss) but each to their own. I had a glass of wine the other night (not breastfeeding) and it was ace!

I've had maybe one or two glasses of wine since finding out i was preg. I also had a few sips of champagne on my wedding day.

I don't think a tiny bit will hurt.

If you're craving a beer then try shandys with as little beer as you can get away with!

I'm a bit addicted to the non-alcoholic shandy! I know it's not the same but it stops me wanting proper beer! Lol

Actually I voted before I read your post properly!

My thoughts are...

No alcohol at all when pg. (during my pg I had 2 sips of champagne on new years eve and a small Baileys on Christmas eve and that was it.)

When Bf'ing it a bit diff IMO.

When your PG the blood link to baby is direct so baby gets a drunk as you, but when your Bf'ing its just a residue in the milk, so on those grounds I thought it was ok to have a glass of wine or two in the evening. Particularly when baby is a bit older and doesn't need night feeds.

I stopped drinking as soon as we started TTC and haven't drunk since (about 14 months!) I am not breast feeding so could start again now, but I know that it will make me drunk really quickly  so don't want to risk it when I have LO to look after.

Thanks so much ladies, i've had a good few laughs at some of the responses. I really appreciate all your views and honesty, its a good job we're all different i suppose!

Well - i'll be totally 100% honest - after sweating profusely on the back garden totally parched and craving a beer, i read the posts on here and... nipped to the offy, bought a magazine and a four pack of Guiness straight out of the fridge!!!

I got home, stripped off again (not totally, ugh!!!), put on my shades, magazine under one arm, can of ice cold Guiness under the other and excitedly walzed back to my reclining chair out in the garden, strategicly placed in the blazing sun. I cracked open the can, my mouth watering, had my first sip and... Oh my God, what is this shat i'm drinking!? Revolted and almost puking, i poured the remainder of the can onto the bed of sprouting flowers (thought they might benefit from the iron), placed the now empty can in the recycling bin, went back inside and got a pint of fresh orange juice from the fridge!

Think it'll be a while before i drink again!

Thanks again everyone.

Rachel :-)

I did howeve rmake the mistake once fo 2... i was rather ill shall we say :puke:

I had an occasional sip of lager or wine when pregnant - both times I have craved lager and its been so tough not to give in but I read the research and decided an occasional drink wouldn't cause me or my babies harm.
