Sorry its taken so long to do this life has become slightly hetic with our new arrival and I dont have internet at home only when I am at my mums.
Saturday 10th March
For a few days I had a strange tingling sensation in my Tounge down the left side I put it down to having ear ache on the left side, but after going to the field to do the horses I met up with my mum who took one look at me and said omg your face is all swollen on the left. I said that I thought that was wierd because it felt a little bit tingly and kind of numb. Went back to mums and googled the symptoms and it came back with bells palsy and pre eclampsia. So rang hospital who said come in stright away. This is 8 at night so OH came home from work and took me through to maternity ward. there I was monitored and had all checks done. Everything came back normal but was having very slight contractions nothing to write home about though. I doctor came round and did loads of tests on me (could I feel her doing thisd and could I feel her doing that) etc etc. She had no idea what it was that was wrong and I would need to be seen by the general medical team (She was a doctor that just worked maternity and gyne) but they could come around till morning so I would have to stay in. Really didnt want to do that I was being induced on the monday and wanted as much sleep as I could get before teh big day. So discharged myself and agreed to come back the next morning. Got home 1am
Sunday
Went back to hospital at 10 am taken to labour ward to be monitored and to wait for general medical team. Trace all good but they said medical team might not come until 5-6 pm as I was not an emergancy however by this point i have lost all use of the left side of my face ( I would say that was pretty urgent) So admitted and taken to maternity ward with 2 other people who were in the proccess of being induced. waited untill 5pm when midwife came in and said the doctor will be around soon we are really sorry she came at 2:30 but no one herd the door bell so she left again (ME NOT HAPPY) but as an apology we will start the induction tonight instead of leaving you untill tomorrow morning (Ok me happy again but shitting it at the same time lol) doctor came and diagnosed bells pasly (tempory paralasis of the facial nerves) and perscibed steriods for after the birth.
The started the induction at 7pm and I was already 2 cm dilated (yey good start) by 11 I was getting contractions not too painful but noticable. at 1am contactions getting worse so went for a bath which helped (at this point im thinking thats a good sign for just using water and gas and air as pain relif)got to 4am contractions every 7 mins lasting for 1 min. went and asked for painrelif. midwife said she wanted to examin me first at which point I was told I was only 1cm (Urm hello I dont think you can go backwards. was given codine. because for some reason I needed a wee after every contractions I didnt get much sleep.
7am the lady in the bed next to me (She was really nice) called a midwife because I was crying (Pathetic I know but it really hurt) midwife put me on the monitor and told me I wasnt contracting, was very upset by this as I knew I was very much contracting every 5 mins. she said if I really wanted she would examin me any way. I said yes. She starts the internal and says oh your 6 cm dilated we nned to get you to the labour ward. I am now completly hysterical and was made to calm down and call other half to come in.
got to labour ward about 8:30 told midwife I didnt care what was in my birth plan I NEED an epidural NOW. to be honest the birth plan never came out of my bag. bounced on the ball which helped with the pain for a bit then decided I needed to lie down on my right side. OH arrived and was instructed to give me tea and toast as it was breakfast time. think I ate 2 bites of tost inbetween sucking on the gas and air. I dont remeber much after this I remember saying that I NEEDED a c section as I couldnt do it. and why did no one belive me when I said I couldnt do it lol.

I was told to lie on my left because they could get a trace from the baby but it was too painful they wouldn’t give me an epidural until they had taken blood from babies head as when they were picking up a heartbeat it was very very low and they thought I might need a section. They took the bloods and they came back as borderline but decided that because the baby was back to back. (First I had heard of this) and I was only 9 cm (im sure I was 10 because I needed to push) they would give me a section. I kept telling them that I needed to push which they said I could because it wouldn’t have made a difference now anyway because they were doing the section regardless.

I was taken to theatre and given a spinal which was a very bizzar feeling and at 11:54am Alexandra Julie Haines came into the world weighing a healthy 8lb 15 oz (wasn’t until 8 days later we discovered this as Midwife told us she was 8lb 2oz!!!! She was taken off to be checked over and she was fine I was stiched up and then whilst in the recovery side room she breast feed for the first time which was amazing

She is now 8 weeks old she sleeps 10-12 hours a night and she is the most amazing thing in the world I love her to bits the bells palsey took 3 weeks to heel but is all better now but I have been told that if I have another baby it will proberly happen again and I cant take the pill or any hormonal contraception for 2 years but my beautiful baby girl Is so worth it!!
