My little chunk is finally here and hes so calm and chilled out I cant believe it!
So here goes....ive been really fed up and whinging about being pregnant. Sick to death is a phrase thaya been used a lot!
40+6, been feeling NOTHING. No braxton hicks no cramps, no show etc just a lot of discharge. Id not slept well, was up at 5 so was tired all day, I managed an hours kip at about 7pm but thought I should get up or I wouldn't sleep through the night. ...what a plonker!
11:45pm and ready to go to bed and felt a bit crampy so stayed where I was..it stopped after about a minute but came back after ten minutes so I thought id stay up and see if it continued. 2.5 HOURS later I realised it was contractions so called dean to come home (from Grimsby) he got stopped for speeding!
I had a bath and tried to sleep when he got gome because I was so tired but the pains kept coming.
Gave up and got up at about 8 and sat on my ball with some toast and a cuppa. Id been loosing clear snotty textured plug for a few hours, at about 1pm i noticed a small amount of blood in it.
The pains had slowed to every 15/20 mins (from 5/10) so decided to hold out to my appointment with the consultant at 3pm. I was meant to be discussing induction. ..
Get to my appointment and mentioned the pain id been getting for the last 13 hours so she got a mw to examine me...I was told I was 6-7cm!!!!
fully effaced and water bulging!
I got ushered to labour ward and left to walk/bounce. I was told if my waters hadn't gone then they'd break them at 8pm. I was walking around ok and having a laugh and joke. Fae (my best friend) had turned up now.
I was coping ok, had a bath but 8pm came so MW broke my water and it all went downhill from there.
The contractions got instantly worse until the pain got so bad that I opted for an epidural at about 9:15pm.. She struggled to get it because I was barely getting any breaks from the contractions. It ended up being a waste of time, numbing nothing but my right leg, knee to hip! That was about half9, an hour and a half to two hours later I found pushing helped the pain and turned out he was on his way. It was about 11:25pm and I was determined to get him here by midnight, I was so tired by then that I was nearly blacking out between pushes, I missed midnight and one of the ladies said they may have to cut me if he didn't come soon. I knew if be gutted if it came to that so two more goes and out he came, pretty much 24 hrs after the first pain.!
I ended up needing a few labial stitches but nothing too bad.
NEVER want to do that again! Lol
Dean didn't want to cut the cord (grossed him out lol) but I was more than happy for Fae to do it, I was so glad she was there, to reassure dean if nothing else and she was great.
I can't praise the staff at jessops enough, they were all so brilliant, from the tea lady to the little guy that sewed me up
He's fantastic, he's been sleeping and eating like a champ. Cant believe how lucky we've been with him, what a star!
