well, I saw a new midwife today for my check up (my midwife has left me at the finishing post to go on holiday, how rude!!!) and they are coming to my house tomorrow for my 7 day stretch & sweep, and to find a good time for the same thing on sunday...

she told me that they will give me a time for induction on monday incase the sweeps don't work, and they'll tell me how they'll most likely do it...

i'm gutted tho, as I really wanted a water birth. I cried last night and again today coz now i won't be allowed to try... This isn't what i wanted at all and now i'm all upset...

:shakehead: NORTEEEEEE stubborn baby, please come soon or they'll force you out!!!

something to do with the labour progressing more quickly and the need for more monitoring or something...

I'm gonna ask again tomorrow and see if there is any way at all I can still use the pool. I've had a fairly straight forward pregnancy so far, so they may still let me hve a go...

Don't be pushed into anything you don't want! As long as you are being monitored (eg regular baby movements) you can go 14 days over before being induced.

I only went 6 days over but my MW had already wanted to do a sweep by this time, which I politely refused :) She did say that sweeps can take 2-3 days to get working sometimes so I was booked in for one at 11 days overdue to try and avoid being induced.

I so didn't want intervention that a number of very brisk walks later and my waters broke, my dog has never been walked so much in its life!!!!

If the sweeps work and it starts labour I don't see any reason you can't have a waterbirth. You have to be 5cm dilated to get in the pool otherwise it can slow things down. Hope you get your waterbirth, good luck

Its been a few years but when i was induced i was still allowed to do everything the same as everyone else, i even loafed in there massive bath for an hour or more the MW just poped in every now and again.

Things might be alot different now though and it might depend on your hospital.

were being induced on the same day  lol

I wanted a water birth too...i had an unsuccessful sweep yesterday :(

I think you can still have one...as long as being induced is going ok..i think???

Anyone know???

hey

i was one week over due with renee, and the day i went in for my sweep, i was in labour, but i still had a sweep to get things moving.

i did not want a sweep i wanted to go into labour on my own, but thankfully i did.

don't give up just yet, it could happen 2mora xx

I think it depends on how you are induced. I don't see why you couldn't if you just had the pessary, but obviously if you are given the drip then you'll be wired up to it on a bed.

Hope you get the water birth you want, it's a lovely experience and so relaxing.

Well, as relaxing as births can be I suppose.. if you know what I mean.. lol x

You're obviously not jumping around enough in excitement while playing Final Fantasy :rotfl:

Keeping my fingers crossed for you
