Hi everyone,

I posted this on the labour and birth section but this forum seems a lot more busy!

just needed a rant really, pretty much reduced to tears as I type this.

I am 40+4 now, and because I suffer with anxiety my midwives have been nice enough to give me a sweep every 48 hours since due date, so I had my third this morning. Since then I have progressed to 2cm dilated, partially effaced, cervix very soft and forward, baby 3/5ths engaged (which for my second baby is apparently good), and each time they have said it “is promising”.
Saturday night had irregular non painful contractions and severe back ache and then Yesterday morning I lost my Mucus Plug, and it did have bloody bits in it. I have had more bloody “bits” since sweep this morning.
Anyway cut a long rambling story short, it’s all stopped and I’m feeling nothing - COME ON OUT BABY. I’m sat on my birthing ball drinking raspberry leaf tea. People due around me have had their babies, and the continuous texts I get asking “anything?” I can’t tell you how much I want to punch them.
I can’t stop getting upset. Anyone out there that can relate? Please? X

I can certainly relate.
I went all the way to 40+12 and had to be induced. I got induced at 1130 on the Sunday and didn't have DD until 1124 on the Tuesday so went all the way to 40+14.

I would just stop replying to people when they message and if they don't get the message by you not replying just tell them that you don't need asking every 5 seconds and will let people know once baby has arrived.

I know it's a lot easier said than done but just try and enjoy these last few days of just you and your baby. Pregnancy really is an amazing thing.

Oh and on that plus side you have no more than 10 days to go, the end is very much in sight xx

It's horrible going overdue isn't it.
Baby number 2 who is now 6 weeks decided to make me wait until 40+10 before coming at her own will 2 days before a possible induction.
My 1st came at 39 weeks and I was so sure the other one would too.
I was so emotional from then until the day..
We were getting harassed by texts and all sorts too thankfully on other halfs phone.
The end is near, enjoy the last few days before the rollercoaster begins xx

I went 40+5 with the first and then 40+18 with the second.

I understand the frustration all too well, but try to relax (as much a possible that anxiety will allow), your baby just isn't ready yet, trust yourself and your body <3

I've no magic tricks or tips, but as for the texts, tell them all to fluff off! xX

Thank you for all your responses, my little man was born June 1st at 14.06 ☺️☺️☺️
Thank goodness!

Congratulations! I’m 41 weeks now :(

Oh bless you, best of luck. I got to 41+2 and was worried about a less active baby the previous evening. They induced me - still took a while to come !!

Hop yours makes an arrival soon x
