3rd Stage Labour

Pulling the cord still surprises me a bit, sorry :think: It's also worth being aware that the injection is sometimes given simply as routine/protocol, so if it's something you don't want, make sure you tell them before they simply give you it without asking. My brother's partner gave birth last October, she had the injection to stop excessive bleeding, but later that night suffered a haemorrhage, so I'm quite interested in the whole third stage decision because of that, it was an unexpected event as the injection was said to be given to prevent that event.

These two links have plenty more discussion about the third stage for those interested;

to be honest i didnt really consider either option. due to the amout of blood i had already lost and was still losing she advised to have it. only took about 5 mins after and i didnt feel a thing.

i got asked if i wanted injection and i said yes. it took about 10 mins and didnt hurt at all. my MW pulled gently at cord to get it out aswell. The relief i felt when it came away was immense, even more so than actually getting my little boy out. it was as if a big build up of pressure had been let out of me.
