Hi,

I *think* I posted on this forum a couple of years back when I lost my first baby at 6/7 weeks.

Well, I'm back, and about 6 weeks pregnant.

I feel so *old* ( as far as pregnancy is concerned - not otherwise ), and am worried about all the age related risks, as well as all the normal ones.
For worried read petrified, tho I am trying not to worry because stress is obviously not helpful right now.

arghhh.

Congrats :D
Positive mental attitude all the way, and if it helps, two positive stories
My work collegues, one had her first baby at 41 perfectly healthy pregnancy and baby (having had 2 prev miscariages and a history of Downs) and the other 42, told she couldnt have children and concieved natural twins, again all healthy and fine

Positive stories do help, thanks ! My hubbie keeps telling me not to worry and everything will be fine.
I must admit I do feel different to my last pregnancy, even tho it's very early days. I'm trying to be excited without being toooo excited ( due to the m/c last time ). Keep teasing my hubbie it might be twins as I'm so ' old ' ;)

You're only as old as you feel! Having said that I currently feel about 65 and I am 32 hahahaha! :D
Anyway congratulations to you I hope all goes smoothly for you big hugs! xxx

Hi Georgia,

Congratulations!

That's fantastic news!

I miscarried last year too but am pregnant again now at 36 so you're not on your own!

Lucyx

I'm 31 (not that old i know- but i still feel it !) and had a m/c 18mths ago. These early weeks will be tough for you, but with each little milestone you begin to realise that it's going to happen
My mum had me at 43, and it wasn't the thing in those days- at least the medics don't treat us like we are ancient :)

Congrats hun and welcome. Please dont be worried your be fine, anytime you want reassurance or support you know where we are.

Hi Georgia,
Hope you have a happy and healthy nine months. I'm 33 so not that old, but had my son when I was 21 so feeling ancient this time round!!!
Congratulations and try not to worry too much

Hi Georgia

I'm 40 and got pregnant by accident, and i must admit to worrying at first because of my age, but most women do worry when pregnant and in the early stages anyways.

I have had a bleed at 12 wks, I also have a heart murmer and have to have a cardio etc to find out how and when this baba will be born, and i'm as chilled as a penguin

What is the point of worrying? So i stopped :D

Congratulaions on your pregnancy

HI georgia  ,
Im 37, nearly 38 and my little girl will be 3 weeks on sunday. I was scared in the beginning too because of all the risks as you get older, but i had every test they threw at me and saw the midwife on a more regular basis and my beautiful little girl was born fit and healthy, :cheer: Try not to worry im sure you will be fine if anything i was a lot more chilled out this time than i was with my 2 boys xxx

I know I shouldn't worry ( my mum had me in her late thirties, when you truly were looked at oddly ), but well, I'm not the most chilled of people at the best of times !

I know I'm very lucky in that as soon as me and OH TTC we end up pregnant, so much luckier than a lot of people.

Hi Georgia firstly CONGRATULATIONS

I will be 39 in 2 weeks time and just found out this morning that I'm pg I had a m/c back in May at 7.5 weeks but have decided I'm gonna keep positive and this pregancy is gonna work - why shouldn't it statistics are in our favours we had our trial run and this is the real thing.

Best of luck and enjoy the next nine months that what I'm gonna do.

Hi

Welcome and congradulations, try not to worry so much , and enjoy your pregnancy
:) Katrina

Hi Georgia

Congratulations on your pregnancy! :D

Try not to worry too much about your age. The medics now are much more relaxed about us "older" mums and don't treat us much differently than the younger mums (apart from offering a few more tests and a bit more monitoring).

I was also a bit worried at first I must admit but now I think it's great. I'm going to be a much more relaxed mum this time around than I was 17 years ago!

Enjoy your pregnancy. Think positively.

Love
Sabrina

Try not to worry. Its a lot more common than it used to be to have babies older. My mum had twins (me and my bro) at 37 (in the 1970's) and we turned out perfectly normal (apart from my brothers strange sense of humour  ). My sister is 36 and 20 weeks pregnant. Stay positive!

HI
Congrats on your pregnancy.

I am 36 and worried immensley about the tests and health of baby but my little one is fine.

I have relaxed since the test results but its a long way off just focus on what you can control, your diet etc

Hi Georgia

Congratulations!

My cousin's wife had their first child at 42 and then twins at 44 and they are all fit and healthy....

She had been married previoulsy and had been TTC for years, ended up getting divorced due to the pressure on their relationship (she could not provide her texan red neck of a husband a son... had to be her fault!!) ....... met my cousin in a shop a few weeks later, got married 3 months later and had their first baby within a year....... not really that relevant, but I love the story!!

Good luck and try to relax! :D :D
