Hey Ladies,

I was just wondering what happened at your 37 week consultant appointment I have one on Wednesday but my hospital is so far away if I cant get a family member to take me i wont be able to go. I cant even walk down to my local shop these days with the pain of SPD kicking in then I cant walk at allso theres no way I can travel to the hospital if no1 can take me. Is this appointment really important what did they do at yours? x

I'm not sure everyone gets a 37 week consultant appointment hon, what health board are you in? As far as I'm aware, you only get a consultant appointment if you need it, eg diabetes, bmi, asthma, miscarriage history, etc.
I asked midwife about this last week and she said it's definitely not everyone who gets it in our area (forth valley nhs) xx

Oh I thought the way my midwife was talking at my last appointment everyone got one as she said at my next appointment (coming up this wed) she would refer me for an appointment since I hadn't heard anything from them just so happens a few days later i got an appointment through now i dont know what to do i dont even have a midwife number to call to ask them what is best as i live in one area but my hospital is in Lutheran so everything seems to be in a bit of a mess i live in argyle and bute but my hospital is glasgow. x

It depends why your getting a 37week consultant app?
I had mine last mon @ 36+4 but that was because my baby is breech and to book my in for section ect.
maybe you can call up and ask what the app is for?

I called them up there and said it was just for a review and as far as im aware I have no health problems so cant be to monitor anything like that. I'll mebe have to try get a hold of my local midwife and see what she says thanks x

Yeah i would do that. sometimes hospital apps are just like the normal ones midwife can do.
My next app isn't till next monday (pre op app eeeeeeeek) which hospital are you with? x

Im hoping its just a regular appointment and I can just cancel it as i have a midwife appointment that day too ooh you must be excited and scared! lol I'm having the baby at the southern general u? x

Will it be in your notes do you think? I remember there being a ticky box for consultant care, so it should say there why? xx

In my notes, it's a sideways page with loads of ticky boxes, saying things like bmi above certain point yes/no, etc. Mine is ticked for recurrent miscarriages, which is why I'll be seeing a consultant.

Hopefully you find out what you need to know xx

dont seem to anything ticked for follow ups doesnt matter now anyway I will find out on Wednesday as I have managed to get someone to take me to the appointment so no need to worry about missing anything important :D x

I'm in Scotland too and didnt have a 37 week appt, just my 36 and 38 week mw appts xx
