36 week ultrasound - results discussion

Hey-hey!

I have a question to those people who have had an ultrasound in third trimester. I am afraid that my baby is a little too big. Doctor said it would be a little bit bigger, but probably not more than 4 kg (8.8 lbs). Right now (36+1) baby predictable weight was 3 kg (6.6 lbs).

Now i have some questions - what were your baby measurements during this time and what do you think of mine?

I also can see that my babys FL (femur length) is a lot bigger, i guess it means my baby is going to be tall His father is also tall 193 cm (6' 4"), yet i am short and only 157 cm (5'2").

Other measurements look fine for me, so i guess the FL changed the predictable baby weight also bigger. Or what do you think, should i worry?

Ok, so here are the measurements for my 36+1 ultrasound:

BPD (biparietal diameter) - 84 mm
HC (head circumference) - 335 mm
AC (abdominal Circumference) - 315 mm
FL (femur length) - 74 mm

If your dr isn't worried everything should be fine. Did they tell you what centile? I wouldn't worry about the length because you OH is very tall.

I had a scan last week and been told I need to go for another next week (I'm 36+1 now) because my baby is fat. they said the midwife said she was a little worried about her weight but some babies can just be bigger! Her weight wad 7.6lbs last week which is of the scale. So if they haven't told you they're concerned then everything should be ok x

They did not tell me the centile, they just told that right now (36+1) the weight was about 3 kg (about 6.6 lbs).

Did you received those measurements too (BPD, AC etc)? It would be cool to compare, because i can see that our due date is almost exactly the same

35.5 weeks.
HC -330.6mm
AC -358.2mm
FL - 67.3mm
Weight - 3358g (7.6lbs)

What is BPD? Mine doesn't have that on my letter. The centile should be under all the measurements on the letter they give you after x

Next scan will be 37.3 x

My LO was estimated at 7lb 6 at my 36 week scan and was born at 39+5 weeks weighing 8lb 7.
His AC measurement was also huge and I worried he'd have a massive belly but he didn't at all xx

Scans are notoriously inaccurate anyway, but I agree with others. If your doctor isn't worried then I wouldn't be either.

My last scan was at 37+1 and he was 6lb 13. He was born yesterday at 38+5 and weighed 6lb 15.5. So he measured bigger than he was really.

One of my friends was told her baby would be over 9lb and he was 6lb 3! So don't worry too much about it at this stage
