Hi ladies i will have a 32 month gap between my children. My daughter (currently 2.5) does not ever go in her buggy now but she isnt a very "safe" walker. We are teaching her road safety etc but i still have to hold her hand always. She also runs away a lot and has tantrums in the street etc. Basically your average 2 year old! I absolutely do not want a double pushchair as she wont go in her single one as it is and I think it would be a step backwards for her but I'm worried for when the baby comes. Right now i can chase her, pick her up, watch her like a hawk etc but when baby comes I dont know how to look after her with a pram as well? I wont use reins as I've tried them and they made no difference.

Any ideas? I am thinking of getting a sling for baby instead of a pram? Would that work? Thanks xx

My daughter was 29 months when ds came along and we never had a double buggy either. I did by a carrier in case she got tired I could have carried baby and she could have gone in the buggy, but that never happened. I know what you mean about the running off etc, so we tried a buggy board - it lasted 2 days I just couldn't get away with it so we went cold turkey. I don't know how or why but she loved holding on to the side of the buggy when we were walking around and other than the odd time she never ran off anymore. I had kind of told her that I needed her to help me with pram, and that I really needed her to hold on and she did! I mentioned it a few times before ds came along so she knew what to do.

Hi chick. Have you considered a buggy board? Not sure how well she'd take it though. Personally I've tried wearing my baby and walking my eldest but it just didn't work as I couldn't grab her or run after her properly.
You could always have the buggy for the baby with a sling in the basket and walk your toddler and if toddler starts acting up you could place her in the buggy and wear the baby?
I don't have a proper double but if my eldest needs to nap I normally put her in the proper seat and baby goes in carrier and that works well.x

Thanks ladies! I will try buggy board and sling for baby! Hopefully she will be like yours and pick up walking nicely by the pram fingers crossed!

29 months between my two. Buggy board has worked well, but just bought a baby carrier too for good measure (as my baby is a very clingy one too!).

I went down the double buggy route with my two. My eldest is 27 months. We don't use it all the time, I mainly use it when I have the two boys on my own and we'll be doing a lot of walking. My eldest is generally good about not running off, but if he gets tired etc he will ask to be carried. I must admit I do also like having the option to strap him in if he's running off or I'm in a hurry. Personally a carrier/sling never appealed to me. After two big babies and two csections my posture is knackered and I don't think I could manage carrying the baby around all the time.

There are 26 months between my two and we use a buggy board. We don't bother with it these days unless we are going further afield. Although James is very good with roads.

I also have a sling and a cheap buggy (bought it for holiday last year) so I had lots of options.
