Hi all,
So it's been 3 weeks now since I gave birth to our little girl. I was very weak at the hospital after birth, despite it being a good birth -not too long a labour and things. I was very shaky the first day or two, and struggled to walk. I also got a very high pulse every time I stood in hospital. I got a lot better once home. I do suffer anxiety, so no doubt some of that came into play, as well as developing mastitis at the same time.
Anyway, it's taken me a while to get into doing 'normal' things even round the house, my hubby and parents have done loads. I have only been out for 3 or 4 tiny walks so far. Literally to the end of my block and back, and even then I feel as if I can't really talk as I'm using so much energy, I feel like I'll get breathless if I do both.
Is this normal/to be expected? Or should I be able to do more by now?
Many thanks in advance!

I had sections for both of my births, and I was shopping at the metro centre after a week. I was back to normal within 2 weeks, and driving within 3. I don't know how a 'normal' birth would compare though.

Have you been prescribed iron tablets? You may be low on iron?

I was back running my dog at agility training by the time my bubs was three weeks old. That was after a ventous with second degree tear.

I would pop along to your gp hun, just to make sure your not anaemic or something?

Thanks all, yes I'll do that. I was borderline anaemic at the hospital so possibly.. (oh yes I did have a 2nd degree tear but otherwise all was pretty good)

I was a crash section and was unwell during labour, lost consciousness etc an was on antibiotics, tramadol and steroids for three weeks following birth. I was however out for coffee, wander round the shops etc after a week so definitely go back to your GP. I was in a lot of pain if I walked too far/too long and did get giddy and hot a lot but that was to be expected and I was careful not to push myself. For a normal birth that definitely doesn't sound rightxx
