I'm sure ive posted before but Bee is a very sicky baby.

Normal pattern is she has a few days when she is a bit sick after most feeds then she has a few days when she is much less sicky. This has been pretty much since birth. No concerns as she is growing / seems happy enough.

She had her second rotovirus vaccine last Tuesday and exactly 24h after she started being sick after every feed (bar her last feed at about 10pm) and she feeds in bed overnight without much sick.

Daytime though she is sicking up more than I am happy with.

I'll take her to the Dr tomorrow but was hoping by now it would have calmed down.

As I say she is a sicky baby in general but this isn't normal is it?

She is having normal nappies (still poo's a lot!!!) and she seems happy enough? Cooing and smiling etc. It's just the sick. We are going through about 20 bibs a day?

Ps meant to say she is breastfed on demand.

Ah Nat I remember this vividly. Jess had the terrible pukies. I stared weaning her at 4 months because itwas so awful. Best decision I made, as over a few months and more solids it gradually got better. Thicken feeds where possible (we used a combination of sma staydown and carobel powder added to expressed milk).

Domperidone which used to be used much more for sicky reflux babies has very recently become much less frequently prescribed due to some issues with adverse effects, paeds like ranitidine or omeprazole but this usually only helps the acid rather than the puking.

You must be superwoman coping with that and a toddler, I found it close to impossible with just Jess. Gah, the washing alone drove me insane, not just bibs, but at least 3 clothing changes for both of us daily.
Sending big hug for you. X

Thanks fliss.

I'm not sure if there is any reflux issues as such. It's literally just the sick and it has been much worse since Wednesday so I'm kind of putting it down to the rotovirus vaccine? Although she is a lot more sicky than James ever was is general (he projectile puked twice before weaning and I remember both times as it was such a rarity)

Bee always has a bib on but yep we still go through a good few outfits a day as well.

Not sure what I want from the GP. I probably need to see a HV?

I do have a lingering worry that there is something actually wrong.... the bright bowel at 20 week scan plays on my mind and no one really explained if there would be anything wrong after she was born.

The brightness was an indication that something could be wrong (placenta bleed / infection / cystic fibrosis) but there was never any mention of an actual issue with the bowel itself if that makes sense. The brightness was a potential symptom of something else and not a problem in itself.

I am just so unsure what to do? You wouldn't think she was my second.

She doesn't seem ill?

Hi Nat

Sounds difficult! If it's any reassurance my mum had 3 children and the second one was very sick after each feed (and I do mean very) and there was nothing wrong with him (we were all BF)

My mum is telling me this often as my boy is sick after every feed but apparently the amount is not a patch on my brother.

Sounds like you won't be reassured til you see a doctor though, hopefully they will be able to say that all is well xx

Sounds disgusting but what's her sick like? Does it's look like she's just regurgitating the milk without digesting any of it? Apparently this woulduusually happen soon after a feed and can be something as simple as over feeding. Or does it actually look digested, kind of like cottage cheese? This would be a while after a feed, say 30 mins to an hour. This is more likely to be something reflux related. How is she generally between feeds? Based on my experience with my son, a reflux baby is generally pretty grumpy a lot of the time!!

I would definitely recommend speaking to your GP or HV it your worried about it.

Thanks ladies.

Her sick is a mixture. Sometimes its just undigested milk and sometimes its cottage cheese-esque.

I know that a little sick is to be expected (breast fed babies always overfed according to my hv) but this is beyond what I would class as 'a little'.

Bee is generally quite a clingy and high maintenance baby - in the nicest possible way - but she has actually been in a better mood the past few days. Also she has slept 7 hours the past two nights.... [10pm - 5am without waking!]

She is very alert when awake, lots of smiles and cooing.

It's just the vomiting lol

My son was more sickly after his first set of jabs and he didn't have the rota virus so it could be down to that.. If it persists I would go see the GP... I always put the cottage cheese like vomit down to being part digested.. Unless it's coincidental and it's a reaction on what you've been eating.. When I BF in the first weeks he reacted to actimel and other dairy products when I introduced it and he still does today.

Oh Nat sorry to read Bee is so sicky.
This sounds exactly like Erraid was up until about 4.5 months old when it just stopped.
She would be sick a few times a day over herself and over me.
I went to the docs and they prescribed infant gaviscon. I didn't find it helped us as all so I stopped using it. Between fees she was a happy baby and not grumpy.
Don't be worried about seeing a doctor, they'll be more help that a HV!

At a little over 6 months we have next to no sick just possetting more now.

I took Alfie to the drs at 5 weeks with. The same thing, although he is formula fed. We went through 7 outfits and several bibs before 3pm that day! She felt his tummy and weighed him and she said to me that some babies are just very very sicky. His is a combination of milk straight after a feed, but also digested stuff later. He is usually changed 2-3 times a day at least, if not more. I do at least 1 full load of his washing each day, which tends to have a lot of bibs in because he just covers himself.

I'd definitely speak to your HV or gp to put your mind at ease :)

Could she be struggling with wind? My lo struggles to get his wind up and ia very trumpy . I have also been trying to.iron out a bit of a foremilk / hindmilk imbalance too.

We are late with vaccines and he had his first set last Tuesday and had some sick (never.normally sick unless we get.his wind.up a bit too vigorously) and had blood in his poo for a few days. Docs at hospital think.its a milk protein allergy but we are convinced it was the rotavirus vaccine.

She actually had a much better afternoon / evening with virtually no sick. Although she is back to being quite sicky this morning.

I could get an emergency appointment but having had a few recently I think I'll just keep and eye and maybe try the walk-in place locally where the HV has a drop in centre.

My lo was very sicky and we started him on infant gaviscon at around 8 weeks. It doesn't work for everyone but instantly helped him. He was less sick during feeds and after feeds there was more chance of milk staying down. I recommend using proper fleece lined dribble bibs as they can save a few outfit changes. Hope it improves for your lo x
