Lydia's sleep patterns were HELL for months and months. For ages she was staying up literally ALL night (and if we tried putting her to bed she would scream the place down), and then fall asleep at around 5 in the morning and wake up at 1pm, and then nap from about 10pm till midnight.
Some days she didn't sleep at all for 36 hours straight, and then crash out for about 16 hours without waking up.
She was upside down and back to front.
We tried putting her to bed earlier, it didn't work.
We tried pushing her forwards. At one point we were awake all night and sleeping all day - we would wake up at 8pm and go to bed at 1pm. It was bizarre....by doing that we managed to get her into SOME sort of vague routine, but then the clocks went forward, and instead of just pusing her forward by 1 hour, it seemed to totally f*ck her up again and she started keeping us up till about 3am again.
Basically we were at the end of our tether. She wasn't getting half enough sleep, and when she did get sleep, it was at completely the wrong times. And believe me we tried EVERYTHING!
Finally, when she reached about 9 months old, her sleep FINALLY sorted itself out. Just on it's own really. We put her down to sleep during the evening, and apart from a brief wake up in the night for a bottle, she slept through till morning.
It was a bit shaky for the first week like that, but it's gotten better and better. For about a month and a half now she's been great.
Now she sleeps at around 9pm (sometimes half 8, sometimes half 9). She then wakes us up in the night for a bottle, usually only once but if she's having a bad night it'll be twice. That's not often though.
And then she wakes in the morning between 7 and 8 (it's 7 on a weekday because we HAVE to get up at that time as Phil starts work at 8, but on a weekend sometimes we all lie in till 8 ).
Then for her naps, she goes to sleep roughly 11am till 1pm (more or less)
Then usually (although not always), she sleeps for about half an hour in the car from about 3.45 till 4.15pm whilst we are going to pick up Phil from work.
So life is good now. IF you'd have told me a couple of months ago that Lydia would be sleeping so well I wouldn't have believed a word of it lol!
