Firstly, I have had an early scan at what I thought was 7 weeks and they put me back to 6+!. The midwife told me to ignore this and stick to original dates as it would be too early to tell! Anyway, Im 8+1 today. There was a strong heartbeat during the scan - what are my chances of miscarrying now? Have they gone down?

Secondly, since I've found out I'm pregnant, Ive been having showers as I read somewhere that having a bath is bad for the baby. Is this true or can I have a bath??

Any answers would be appreciated - thanks guys xx

It's okay as long as the water is close to your own body temperature,
If the water is too hot, you get overheated and that increases your heart rate,
reduces blood flow to your baby, and potentially puts your baby under stress.
So it's important to set the temperature to a comfortable level (not too hot to the skin).
Bathtubs gradually cool as you are soaking, which reduces the chance of prolonged exposure to high temperatures x

Hey Hun the risk does reduce when u see heartbeat and risk goes down each week!
It is fine to have a bath just not too hot!

I believe that the chances of MC reduce at bit for each successful week you carry the baby. However the chances of MC fall considerably when you get past week 12. You should be able to find some stats in books or baby websites. I think this is why a lot of people feel a bit more secure when they reach Tri2. I'm 19 weeks now and still have my head in my knicker gusset whenever I go to the loo. Old habits die hard.

Yes you can have a bath. I think the bath thing is related to a highly raised body temperature increasing the chances of MC. This is why PG ladies are told to stay from saunas and hot tubs etc. So you can have a bath but probably avoid having the temperature of the water too hot. So a cooler bath for you and bubs. Again I found plenty about this online and in book so just do some research and see what you think.

Thanks girlies!!! Im having twinges tonight, feel like I'm stretching! x
