What's everyones opinion of 2 middle names?

If you have chosen quite a long first name, and quite a long first middle name, but have a short surname, would you go for a long 2nd middle name or a short 2nd middle name?

I think it's better to have a name that rolls off of the tongue and the length of the name doesn't matter, but my OH thinks it's better to have a shorter 2nd middle name?

I would personally have a shorter middle name. I like a name to have a ring to it. My daughter is Emily and we chose Mae as her middle name.

My partners surname is the same as my maternal grandmas maiden name and do we wanted her first name as a middle name for our little one to carry on her memory. Her name was frances and as we are having a boy it's now Francis. Now if we had just that as a middle name our boys initials would be OFE. Which to me is too much like oaf and I don't want my boy being called an oaf. So we have added my dads name too making his full name Oliver David Francis Eyre. AKA Ollie. That is a loooong name. But it's the name we want for our child, it carries on the names of his grandad and his great grandma. If you have a name you want to use then use it. I never get called by my full name (unless im in trouble with my mum).

If you intend to use both names eg Emily Mae (beautiful name btw) then yes a shorter name is better and has a nice ring to it. For us it was more about getting the name of my grandma in there more than anything as I said he will be known as Oliver or Ollie anyway x

Me, my sister and both of our sons have two middle names. We all have two middles names to accommodate a nod towards both sides of the family. I believe they all roll off the tongue just fine, but I don't think we really considered that aspect too much.

My baby will be having 2 middle names. I really don't see the big deal. The child will barely ever use his or her full name only on official documents. I never introduce myself with my middle name so why should it roll off the tongue?!

I have two middle names and so will my little boy. He's going to be Oscar Leo William, which is a bit of a mouthful but they're very important names to my OH and I. What two names are you thinking of? You might have to be careful with two that end in Y xxx

My LO as 3 middle names! Oops. we couldn't decide and each one means so much! .. But he will be known day to day with one middle name.

Only 3 will be on his Birth cert.

Nothing wrong with more than 1.

Nothing wrong with more than 1 middle name. Nothing wrong with longer ones either. I think if you have a short first name then a longer middle name sounds better. (My LO is Ollie Sebastian)

What about a long first name that ends in a and a short 2 syllable surname?

I would not chose 2 middle names. I think it is too much! I have nothing against both first and middle names to be long. But of course everything depends on what names you have chosen. Maybe 2 middle names will sound great)

I actually use my middle name. My maiden name was relatively unusual so when I got married and adopted my husband's name, there was so many people with the same name as me that I adopted my middle name to make me a bit more unique! I wouldn't of chosen my middle name, it's a bit old fashioned I think, but it goes well as a whole name.

If we have a boy I can see him having 2 middle names. I really want to use my grandpa's name but the men in DH's family all take their grandfather's forename but I don't like my FIL's name! It's not so bad put with my grandpa's name.

If we have a boy, baby will have both of his grandfathers names as his two middle names. If baby is a girl, she'll have my name and my grandma's name as her middle names.

I can't even contemplate there being one middle name for my kiddo!

all 3 of mine have 2 middle names all named after grandparents and gt grandparents
