So our son has learnt how to take his nappy off thanks to hubby showing him he's woke up covered in pee at 4 and at 8! We take him to the toilet and he has asked to go by taking us there but never wees or poos on it not even his potty. I'm due to have my second soon and I'm at a loss as I have a lot of appointments for gestational diabetes so we can't stay in a whole week. Xxx

Wow 19 months is advanced for potty training a boy! My little lad is 2yr4m and he isnt keen on the idea lol!

Could you put him in popper vests so he cant get to his nappy at night/morning? X

That's what he had on with pjs he still managed to undo both nappies :( I was potty trained at that age so I guess could always try? Xxx

If he's showing no signs of wanting to wee or poo on his potty I'd say he's not trying ready. My lo is 21 months and can tell me when he is doing a wee or poo now and has learnt some control but don't entertain the idea of a potty so I know he's not ready. I'm not going to attempt it until he's well over 2. Could you try pull ups as there's no tapes to undo? x

Oh you have a lottle Houdini do you?! Lol!
:)
If you want to try then go for it but it sounds like you have alot on and it needs to be consistent. As far as Im aware girls are a bit quicker than boys. Xx

Thanks ladies he does ask to go on the potty but has only done one wee and that was ages ago I still gave him loads of praise for it though. We have some pull ups which we'll try today xxx

Yeah try pull up pant nappies as they are harder to get off for them! Good luck! X

It doesn't really sound like he's ready but if you have the time to do it before your next baby then go for it. You just have to be very on the ball for the first week. My little girl was potty trained at 21 months so it's definitely do'able if you're sure he's ready.

Pull ups are great

I potty trained my lo just before he started nursery at three.

He's been daytime dry for nearly two years but is still not reliably dry overnight and still wears pull ups to bed.

Sometimes starting too soon is worse as they are really not ready for it and you end up battling with them and it's more stressful for all involved.

If you think he's ready then give it a go but he may well still be too young.

I have heard that if there is a big change they often regress so if your baby is due very soon it might be better to wait until your new baby is a few months old.

Thanks ladies he took me to the toilet a lot Wednesday and did a lot of wees and two poos he got a big clap and loads of praise as well as his favourite thing ever an apple haha we keep joking about sending him to Apple Addicts as he asks for them a lot but I was so proud yesterday he did very well too he had one accident and got upset but I told him it's okay just tell mummy or go on your potty we got him some underwear to try and to be fair he's been brilliant he even got up last night at 11 and went poo so took him and he had a poo and a wee and he got a big cudddle and a well done he's been dry this morning(pull up) so popped him on the toilet and he had a mega pee and went back to bed xxx

Thank you, I'm so proud of him he's had another accident but he was on route to the toilet so obviously couldn't hold it bless him xxx

They sell liners for in the underwear too so if there's an accident they don't soak but it's even more less like a nappy x

My eldest potty trained at 2yrs 4months and was dry at noght at age 3. My second on the other hand decided she hated nappies at 18 months and gave me no choice but to potty train her even though I honestly don't think she was showing signs she was ready other than a sheer determination not to wear a nappy in the day. I went with it and within a week she was clean and dry. She's 2 and a half now and still clean and dry and mostly dry at night. When her back molars were cutting she would have accidents though.
She would sometimes take her nappy off at night and wet the bed but I overcame that by putting her in dungarees that zipped up at the back.

Good luck! Sounds like he's doing fab already.x

Thank you lovelies, we had 3 accidents today he didn't make it to the toilet for 2 of them bless him and the last one he hadn't said he needed a poo and was awfully upset I ended up having my own accident! I coughed so hard I peed and he took me to the bathroom hahah I was in stitches so that made me wet myself more and he even got me my clean pj pants so fingers crossed he keeps it up I'm very proud xxc

Wow this is amazing Violet! My little girl is 2 years 5 months and I had two weeks set aside just to train, started last Monday and gave up after three days when my 1 year old got norovirus (then I did) but also because after 3 days she was still just wetting her training pants and telling me when she had done that but started screaming and crying about the idea of going on the potty. I'm going to try again in another couple of weeks because i read if they are showing signs they are ready (which she is) but starts getting upset you should just put it all away for a couple of weeks then start again. It's tough so you are my inspiration! I have a third arriving in August so would really like her trained by then. Also she is dry at night so feel like she must have very good control x

Well it kinda went out the window :/ gonna try again next week and he's getting upset about being wet or dirty too so I know he wants too but he had a bad belly and ended up having a few accidents so we'll try again soon he was doing brilliant xxx
