I am getting worried as all my pregnancy symptoms have gone (funny, i moaned about the sickness but now i want it back) and all i have felt is weird sensations in my belly now and again. Anyway my question is, do they use a doppler to check bubs heartbeat at the appointment? Just for peice of mind? I dont think i could bear waiting till my 20 week scan! The worry would kill me. Does she do any checks on you? Anything that could tell if something isnt right?

Thanks girlies

Hi,

Yes, they normally use the doppler at the 16 week check. Remind her if she hasn't got it out at the ready :D

The other checks will be the usual, checking the urine and blood pressure.

You'll also have the option of have the triple test bloods done as well at this stage to assess your risk for downs, spina bifida.

Sounds like your weird sensations are babies first movements :D

hey hun, i felt same as you, honestly your bubs will be fine!!

yeh they normally check for HB, but dont be alarmed if dont as some dont check till 20weeks plus +

but i'm sure if u ask theywont mind..
why dont u buy a AngelSounds dopler, about £25 off ebay, and its amazing thing to have, best money i ever spent xx

Hi Hun, the midwife did use the doppler at my 16 week appointment but asked me first if I wanted her too or not as she said it was 50/50 whether they find it at this point and didn't want me to worry if she couldn't find it.
I'm sure you're little one is just fine in there.
All the best,
Sarah x

no one has listened to bambino's heartbeat at any appointments yet but i do have a doppler at home which is reassuring x

Mine was exactly as bagpuss said, but i had a dopler at home so i was pretty confident Tally was ok, plus i'd felt her move for the first time as we were on out way there :)

If they dont do it routinely you could always just make a comment like "is there any chance of listening to LO's heartbeat?" and maybe say your a little worried thats all, they'll understand as i lot of women worry about bubs between that first scan and feeling regulat kicks.

Yes they listened to her HB at 16 weeks and at 24 weeks, so if you ask they should do it for you,

Dont worry about your symptoms going away. my nausea stopped at 10 weeks lucky me! i still get sore boobs every now and then but the kicking and squirming in my belly helps! not long till you start feeling yours hun x

babys HB was only checked for us at 24 week appointment. mind you because we werent having the triple test (we had a nuchal scan instead) they didnt give us a 16 week appointment! I phoned for one but they said unless we were worried about something then they didnt need to see us!
