16 week check

Hiya folks, just a quick questions, i have my 16 ewek check tomorrow, is it just taking blood, checking blood pressure etc??

Just so i know exactly what to expect tomorrow!

Hi Vicki

i had my blood pressure and weight checked, then had a blood sample taken to see if i was at high or low risk of Downs Syndrome (the results should come back in about 2 weeks).

The best thing is we heard the baby's heart beat for the first time - it was amazing. even heard it moving around.

you wait til you hear that - it's fantastic.

it's a good time to ask any questions you might have, my midwife put my mind at ease about things i was worrying about.

I didnt have a 16 week check with the midwife
I havent heard from her since my first check up at 4 weeks
Im getting the feeling hers forgotten about me

I just had my 16 week check on Monday and had the triple test ( Blood test) and a urine sample weight and heard baby's heart beat! That was amazing. Midwife says based on the heart rate she thinks it may be a girl!!! We are choosing not to find out so any info is great!!!! We will see if she is right!!!

How did she know if it was a girl - do they have a faster heart rate?

i havent seen my mw for 8 weeks think i will have to ring her

Yeah aparently, boys have a slower rate than girls.... one sounds like a train and one sounds like cantering horses.... not sure which is which.

She guessed my neighbour wuld have a boy purely based on the heart beat and she was right!!! Amazing eh!

Thats amazing....be so interesting to see how accurate her predictions are when LO comes out!!

i think it's amazing too.

when we heard our little one's heart beat, the midwife said 'it's just right', so can't tell if it's fast or slow.

I know Jaidybaby - so dying to know if it's a boy or girl.

Have my next scan on the 18th, so just have to wait til then.

Ohhhhh yes...im getting more and more impatient by the day Bob!! I go out into town and wanna buy clothes but not knowing if its blue or pink makes it soooo difficult!!!

It's very hard not to buy anything - i've not bought a thing yet.

bet you feel a bit more relief now you're out of the 1st 3 month danger zone.

i'm so bored at work at the minute - all i wanna do is chat on this all day!
