Hi everyone,
I'm just wondering what time everyone puts their little ones down, and do they go down awake or asleep.
We can't seen to get Josh down before 9 when he's already asleep but when he does he's usually down till 530_730. Tried putting him down earlier tonight but it was traumatic all round, gave the cry it out a go and I swear it sounded like someone was trying to murder him. He usually has either 1 longer nap 1-1.5h at lunch or 2shorter naps.
Thanks xxx

I have a 14 month old and up until last Tuesday he always fell asleep while downstairs with us anytime after 8pm sometimes awake till 10pm which depended on when he woke from the afternoon nap. Now I've a 5 week old we knew something had to change so I looked up the Jo Frost super nanny controlled timed crying and since last Tuesday we been doing that. Putting baby up into his cot while awake (between 7 and 8pm) saying good night and walking out the room. Then you go in at 2 mins settle baby back down but don't make eye contact and all back out. Baby will start crying again and you go in after 4 mins do same and then go back in after 8 mins basically keep doubling the mins till baby just crashes out.

First night baby cried 1 hour.
Second night 40 mins
3rd night 35 mins
4th night 20 mins
5th night 15mins
6th night 10mins
Tonight 8mins

Yes it's heartbreaking hearing that cry (whichever frost says about) but also says on her website that by night 7 it will all be over. Tomorrow hubby will probably put baby to bed and just come down stairs with monitor. Since doing this baby been waking between 6&7 am.

I don't let baby nap past 4:30pm now to make sure by 7 he is getting tired so he has his bath, milk and it's time for bed. He will also nap in the morning for sometime too due to being up so early.

Hope that helps.
F.

My LO always went down between 6.30 and 7. At about 10/11 months she would wake when we put her in her cot as she would feed herself to sleep on us. I used to put her in our bed if she woke up and she would snuggle in and go to sleep but would be hysterical if we tried her in her cot. We would spend hours laid with her trying to creep out of her room and it was always well after 9.40. So I took the side off her cot (oh cuts length of wood that we screwed into the holes to make a ledge so she couldn't roll out. The first night I popped the single mattress there and slept all night, then gradually started leaving after about 4/5 nights I was leaving while she was having her bottle so settling herself. She did have the odd night where she woke and cried, I did the cc method and each time it was less than 10 mins. Sorry if this isn't what you wanted but it wasn't the time that was our issue, it was the cot as u guess she thought she was a big girl lol.

My one year old is a nightmare I was just thinking of posting today, we did cc at 6m and it worked great but then at 8m she had her first cold and was really poorly and we digressed. She's now 14m and sleeps in a cot next to my bed. She goes down at 730/8, sometimes she has milk and goes down no bother sometimes it's a big fight but I reallybdont want her going to bed later as that my chance to have a shower. I'm going to try putting her into her own room again this week and I know it will be awful. I tried cc a couple of months ago but it was awful. Since she's older and can stand up it was just heartbreaking and I don't want to do it but I don't know what else to do

What time is your lo's last nap? I was always told not to let her sleep after 330pm

It is awful hearing them cry like they do. My husband has been the one doing this all week with 14 month old as I have been breastfeeding 5 week old. You just have to be strong and not give in as they will know that once you do it once they'll get away with it. First 3 nights were the worse after that he's been settling quite quickly and last nighteven though he cried initially I think he now knows that crying is not going to get him anywhere so he just goes to sleep.

Yesterday he napped from 10:30am to 11:30 ish. Then I put him down 2pm and he's left to 3:45pm. His afternoon nap depend on how tired he gets as I've no set time to put him down as such.

Have a look at t jo frost controlled timed crying website what you read will make sense and know that after a few days things will get better.

His last nap does vary in times but try not to let him nap past 4.
Right going to be strong and try it again tonight, we picked him up last night and he fell asleep in the livingroom, put him down in bed then he woke up at 2 which is really not like him.
Might try the Josh frost thing tonight.
Thanks for your comments girls xx

Good luck and stay strong. Let us know how it went tomorrow.

I breastfeed my 20 month old to sleep still, no stress for either of us. She'll fall asleep herself when she's ready to.

He's growling like the exorcist still at 30min aaah I'm gonna have nightmares and he's gonna have no voice tomorrow lol

Keep at it faymay and don't give in. I thought that too re the voice and he was fine in morning in fact, each morning I've walked into his room and he's been full of smiles. And if he wakes when I'm feeding baby I've left him there and he's just laid there waiting for me to go in with a few whinges here and there.

Mine has just gone up and gone straight to sleep no cry at all. He's only gone so late due to us all falling asleep when hubby come home from work and didn't wake till 7pm!!!!!

Faymay how you getting on with getting any to sleep? Hope it's working out for you.

Hey fruity, so far so good, touch wood! We asked the nursery not to let him nap past 3 and doing same at home and it seems to be working, he's falling asleep during his 8pm bottle and able to put him down....fair enough he's nearly or aalready sleeping but it's better than 9-10pm! Xxx

That's brill faymay. Progress is made and that's what's important. Less stress for you as well.

Well done. Mine is now going up after his milk and going to sleep straightaway. He also lies in bed chatting to himself in the mornings till I go in and get him as he seems to wake when I'm feeding baby lol.

My LO goes to bed at 6.30pm after bed time routine and sleeps until 6.30am, he has 1 nap at 11.30ish for 2 hours and that's it. Have you tried getting a bedtime routine in place? We've done bedtime routine since he was 6 weeks old and he's been a brill sleeper. All my family and friends were massive on routine and I honestly think having the same sort of routine every day helps. Ive always put him down awake so he's learnt to fall asleep alone. He does have a bottle before bed though. He's 11month! xxx
