Sorry girls to sound thick but the 1-3 & 21 day blood test for fertility, do you have to do them on the same cycle ?, I presume I can't do day 21 on this cycle then day 3 next cycle ?. They both have to be done on one menstrual cycle, is that right ?. x

No, they don't have to be done on same cycle, so if the day 21 is approaching then you can have that done and then the day 3 bloods on next cycle. I am sure you are aware but day 21 bloods are not always done on day 21, needs to be 7 days after ovulation, they just base 21 on a 'typical' cycle xx

Ah that's great, thanks Lisey, I'm 5dpo today so will have the 21 day bloods done this cycle as don't think I ovulated, then when af arrives I'll have the 1-3 day bloods done. I didn't think you could do that, I was under the impression it had to be the same cycle, saves a bit of time doing it on different cycles. xx

I was never told it had to be on same cycle and I have had the day 21 a few times. Lots of luck with the tests and results xx

I've had one day 21 blood done a few months ago. A result of 30 shows you ovulated, mine was 28, I must ovulate though as caught pregnant but unfortunately lost it. I've never done the 1-3 days bloods though. x

Yeah, that is pretty close to the 30. My fertility consultant said anything over either 14 or 16 (can't remember which) indicates ovulation. From my reading and research, a lower amount can indicate ov but it needs to be 30+ to sustain a pregnancy. Also, I think the day 3 bloods can actually be done up to day 5, make sure they test LH, estrogen, FSH and prolactin xx

Ah, that's maybe why I didn't hold the pregnancy then ?. I've not looked on the form for the 1-3 day bloods so I will check them later and let you know. Thankyou hun, you've been a great help. x

Or it could have been done a day early or late? That would make the results a little out?
If you have the form already then they may not have prolactin on it, not a major issue. The estrogen is more important and sometimes they don't test it unless you ask. It can suppress the FSH so it gives a better overall picture.
Happy to help :) May as well pass on my years of research (I think I spent half my days on google) and experience of tests xx

Yes I think I had it done day 22 but was told they adjust the result accordingly.

Aww bless you, yes I seem to spend my time trawling through Google too.

Wishing you all the best with your pregnancy Lisey, team pink is wonderful, I have 2 girls. x

Thanks, I am excited to have a girly :) xx

Hey, sorry to jump on but was going to ask this tonight - you beat me lol!

I am having my bloods done on cd21 unless I ovulate early/later then will change the date then on CD3 as doctor said this is the best day to do it xx

Also jumping in on this as was going to post similar!!

I was told to get FSH etc done on day 4 and progesterone on day 21. However I tend to have 25-27 day cycles though last cycle appears to be 24 day. Not sure how this affects the progesterone test as I believe I ovulate around CD12-13 even though my cycles are shorter. I think I now have an excuse to start tracking more closely!!

If you ovulate earlier you will need the day 21 earlier. 7 days after ovulation xx

Thanks Lisey, I am keeping a close eye on my temps etc and have warned work my appointments might change xx

Thanks lisey. That was what I thought but kept confusing myself!! Think I need to start tracking my temps this month and get some cheap OPKs.

Blimey there are a few of us having the same tests. I just looked at the form for my day 1-3 bloods and she's testing me for HX, LH and FSH. I know what 2 of them are but the HX I haven't got a clue what that is, I've googled it and nothing. ?, anyone have any idea ?. x

Hi Lil, Lisey's right, they definitely don't have to be done in the same cycle, they're not connected to each other, they just have to be done at the right time. Mine were done on different cycles.

Haven't the first clue what HX could be.

I've googled it and it just seems to mean history - how exactly is it written on the form?

Thankyou Syd, I thought the tests were both for progesterone so had to be same cycle, I didn't realise the 1-3 day were for different hormones lol.

How are things going for you. ?, have you started IVF yet ?. x

Maybe see if they'll do you amh as well? It gives an idea of egg reserves, although best to combine that with an antral follicle scan for the full picture. Of course that's no guarantee of egg quality which appears to be my problem.

Yes, thank you for asking :) Today is day 6 of injections, hoping for egg collection middle/end of next week.
