Went to the Fetile medical centre yesterday. I was supposed to have CVS at my local hospital, but chickened put so ended up going to London to the private clinic for a clearer picture.
The scan showed 3 markers of downs syndrome. My bloods and scan and my personal information all together then gave me a 1:2 chance of carrying a baby with chromosomal abnormalities.
I am now going back there next Wednesday to have a CVS with the pioneer (as he's been described to me!) of these procedures.
Obviously it's not looking too great right now. Quite honestly I don't know where to put myself! My OH is really really struggling and my brain in about to burst! I feel so sad. And so afraid!
Sorry for the massive rant. I told my OH yesterday that I almost felt fraudulent by writing on the forum anymore- as I don't feel normal. But I still feel that all of you supported me so much throughout this pregnancy. And I would really love to continue these friendships while I really really need you all!!! Xxxx

I'm so sorry you're feeling this way, and for your oh too. Don't feel like a fraud hun you've every right to be here! I'm here for you. Keep us updated but remember there's still a chance it'll be ok xxxx

So sorry to hear this ...Of course you need us all and we will be there! We all need you too!

Oh my goodness, do they mean downs when say abnormalities?

Many people do go on to have babies with Downs and yes its a lot of hard work, but they are wonderful and loving children.

You and OH have to be honest do you think you can handle that? You need to look into exactly what it will mean and just ask yourself that. Ask this pioneer guy a list of all the questions you have.

Dont feel fraudulent for writing on the forum, why would you feel like, it covers every aspect of TTC,PG, etc etc etc

We are always here to chat, for whatever worry or concern or rant you need!!!! Im sure there will be someone who has been through the same thing xx

Big hugs. xxxxxx

Oh I'm so sorry your going through this. don't feel fraudulent about being on here, we're all here to support each other though lots of things, plus there are lots of girls who have been through situations like you and can offer advice and support. Really got my fx for your further tests, there is still a chance baby could be healthy, plus some babies can have mild chromosomal problems and live happy lives. At the end of the day it's still your baby and very loved whatever the outcome may be x

a child with a disability is still a child, they still love and laugh. i know its not what you hope for but its not the worst that could happen, i know many ppl with downs thru my work and they are funny, caring and happy ppl and most live perfectly normal lives. hell some of them are more intelligent than some non disabled ppl i know so please dont assume that its the end for you and think carefully about what you do next hun.

whatever happens you know everyone here is gonna be there for you with support hugs and advice :)

So sorry you are going through this :hugs:

Dont feel frudulent about writing here hun, its the best place for help and support whatever the outcome.

I hope the test goes well and let us know. thinking of you. xxxxx

I just wanted to say sorry to hear you what you are going through. We too had markers show on our scan not for downs but for Edwards and Pattau which are more "lethal" as they put it. So know a little what you are going through.

I did have CVS test and honestly it is not as bad as some people make out and it is the best way to get accurate results so you know one way or the other and can make a decision between the two of you once you have that information to hand.

If you want to chat about CVS feel free to contact me. But it literally lasts no more than a minute and you just have to lay very still :) x

Oh hun, it's still 50/50 so there's always a chance baby will be fine. Wait until the test results are all in when you can make informed decisions and such. Will be praying for you all xxxxxxxxx

I went to the fetal medicine center and they are amazing - if you are seeing the crazy greek man (who runs everything) he is up there with the top in the world so you are in the best possible hands (and he is very crazy!) my old boss was told she couldn't have children and she went to see him and now she has three! Everything is crossed for you, just remember you will be in the best possible place and there is still a 50% chance that everything is fine! Good luck, keep us posted xxx

When we made the choice to have a CVS it was the hardest thing we've ever done but also the best choice we ever made. No matter what your choice will be when u find out the results it's better knowing what your up against xx

Sorry to hear that ur going through something so difficult - but dont ever feel like a fraud for being in here. its what we are all here for.

And as bev said - a child with a disability is still a child. yes some of these are harder to deal with than others, but there is a lot of support out there. Many people with Down's syndrome live full lives going on to do everything that "normal" people do - including getting married and living long enough to claim their pension.

xxx

all the support you need right here......xx

:hugs: thinking of you hope all turns out ok xx

Sorry to hear this, not a nice thing to go thru, as someone else said, have the test and then look at ur options, we gad the amnio and the waiting is hard but once u know, u can deal with it. Lots of positive thoughts your way xxxxxx
