I agree with GGG about the government over there. They are scary. Bush is just a muppet though, he's just a mouthpiece for the big wigs.

The majority of Americans I've ever met have been lovely people. The ones who have come to live over here in Europe are on the whole embarrased about the Bush administration.
Us Europeans love to America bash, particulary since that idiot came into power and started trying to 'police' the entire planet, but did the majority of Americans vote for him??? Ever seen Fahrenheit 9/11??
I really don't think the Bush administration is representative of the American people.

I could never go and live there, it's way too scary, but it's got some fantastic places to visit. Next year we're planning on doing a camper van tour around Utah, and I've always fancied Christmas shopping in New York. maybe this year......

I have to point out that I am quite embarrassed on the whole about the British government and British tourists that come to Spain... The same way that Americans who live in Europe are embarrassed. I think living in another country opens your eyes to different cultures...

Saying that, I live in a tourist area... and well sometimes British people can be well.. just embarrassing... :puke: :puke: :puke: all the time in the street, shouting abuse when someone can't speak English to them...or struggles with the language... And we all know that not EVERY English person is like that, but because most Spaniards here only see that side of the British, they think that's what we are all like. (its why I can be quite scathing about British people, because I see it all the time, and forget that Britain really isn't like that)....

Oh yes... Has anyone seen Loose Change? If THATS true.... now that's a truly frightening thought that governments today can do that...

lol squiglet, Im a human racist too then as I think as a whole we are barbaric, parasites, ignorant and arrogant, and I want to come back as an alien

I used to think that, and on sme degree I still do. But it used to be so bad that I hated literally everyone, and since I'm a rather fair person, myself. Doesn't make for a healthy lifestyle.

It's best to see the beauty in humans, and our ability to create and imagine.

Oh dont get me wrong, ive never hated anyone in my life (well, my ex maybe hehe) and I see the individual, and even cultures and sub-cultures, as a different creature to "the human race" as a whole.

There is a lot of beauty in humanity - our capacity for love, compassion, empathy, spirituality, the beautiful things we create like music and art, but all these things are held up against (and possibly inspired by) our history of violence, greed, apathy, and this weird belief that we own the planet - we are the most intelligent species (apparantly) and therefore should be responsible enough to take care of it, but that doesnt mean we OWN it - thats my biggest bug-bear, and opens up a whole can of worms about politics, world power, and human arrogance that is a whole other topic.

I feel the same. When I truly hated EVERYONE, I was pretty much just a very depressed person in general.

I believe that we need some creature on earth that's smarter than we are, to put us in our place. With all our technology, our cities, our weapons... we tend to forget how fragile existance really is. Our earth won't last forever, but people can be just so damn ignorant.

What made me really sad is we went to Las Vegas for our Honeymoon. I wouldn't have gone there in a million years, but there was a "Star Trek" convention there and the Hilton has the "Star Trek" Experience... so that's where we went (I nearly had a Vulcan vow Renewal on the bridge of the Enterprise...but I put a stop to that....sorry)...

While we were in Las Vegas, we were in a hall in Mandalay Bay hotel... and the opulence and gradure that was put into that place... It was very beautiful, but I just kept thinking how many little babies you could save from starvation in Africa, with the money it took to build just that one hallway...???

Humans have a nasty habit of being just plain nasty to one another, and for reasons nothing more extraneous than having a darker shade of skin....or ginger hair.... It's so pathetic.... It's much easier to just dislike humans all together.... I try and avoid direct human contact... I'm like my dad, we would become recluses if we could.

We just need to evolve, which some people (myself included) believe is happening already :)

We need to, as a race, be twated round the head and made to realise how small and insignificant our existence is... :?

I have no desire to go to america, too many places i haven't been to here first.
I just thought i'd say that when i worked for naafi, the american troops were the most dedicated hard working polite regiments we got. They as a whole had great manners and treated everyone with respect. we never had to break their fights up and call the MPs wheras we often did with the others.
British were the worst, esp the para troops and the gherkas. Alot of people (me too) think the gerkhas are the hardest, most dangerous combat squaddies we have, but man they are rude and pushy and most of them find it hard when a white woman says no to them.

I just thought- some Americans post on here don't they? :?

I wish I could think so. I believe that the moral fibre of humans has, for the most part, already been lost. And the general population of those who're ignorant and simply don't care, will grow along with technology. Our own thinking will be our downfall, same with our greed. It's all about more, more, more! Screw the hottest girls, buy the newest cellphone. That isn't always the case and is a vast generalization, but I really don't see how we can recover from this fad. It's just too big now.

I just do what I can. I be the best person I can be. :( I wish I could do more for the world.

Techinally I am also North American, so yeah, we do.

ooooohhhh.... how did I miss this!!!

Well I love America, Americans, the whole place!! I have been several times, my hubby is half american, all his family (appart from his sister) live there and we are in the process of getting papers and houses sorted to move there.

Some of the other things people have posted have made me laugh so much!!
One comment about the Americans slagging the Canadians.... this happens everywhere that the countries are just joined by a boarder.... here in Scotland we hate the way some of the English think we are just a tiny blob attached to them, and also the Scots slag the English for some stuff... Same as some of my family are welsh and the rivalry there between the welsh and english.... happens everywhere.

I love the way the Americans stick together... Take the disaster in New Orleans... the american government have rehomed and donated loads of money to the families affected.... here (obviously it wasnt to the same extent) the flooding the other month, yes the government has gave money to help rebuild but no where near as much.

I will probably be shot down for this, but me personally cannot wait to get out of the UK again. I won't miss a thing apart from friends (and you lot but I will still come on :D ) I hate walking down the street seeing thousands of miserable faces... I hate the state of the NHS and how people are dying with cancer and horrible illness as the hospitals dont have the bed and the waiting lists are huge... I hate the weather...
I could go on and on....

Yes... President Bush is a TW*T but at the same time most politicians are.

Think that is my rant over!!

I've been to Florida and California and I loved them both. I know quite a few Americans and I like them all. Even if I didn't like them I wouldn't say it's cos they are American, it would be because they are dickheads

I was brought up quite anti-american and would still find things stereotypically american a turn off.

But I've met so many sound Americans online now, I can't see them as being any more 'wrong' than those living in the UK.

You get wrong'uns all over the world, there are plenty in the UK, and you get some good'uns in other countries.
