I'm just curious as to your general view of American people. I myself am originally Canadian, and I've been to the US only once. This thread isn't here to bash Americans, I just want to hear from what people from the UK think. People here in Holland idolize everything about it, especially New York... which I find ridiculous, because here there are much nicer cities, with so much history I can soak up! i love all the old buildings and the canals.

So, if you have been there, did you like it?
Would you ever visit (again)?

I love going to america, every one seems so nice. Even in really crappy supermarkets, people were really helpful and smiled all the time. I think its weird how they think just because you come from the UK you know the queen and know there friend that lives in London, i dont think they realise the UK is actually quite big :rotfl:

Iv also been to canada for 2 hours( ) and i would go there again too

I went to America (only Florida- disneyland lol) and would never go there again- I really didnt like it!!! It's just too busy! And their Hershey chocolate is vile :puke:

Really, Jenna? Maybe you were at a nicer part than me... first thing that happened when I landed in Cali, was a five year old boy gave me the finger.

Theres always going to rude people no matter where you go. But in general i can honest say the worst place i have even been is the UK :rotfl: Even when i went to Turkey the people were so lovely, we didnt understand a word they said but they tried so hard and they werent well educated rich people either.
Maybe im just really lucky?

You're right, everywhere you go, there's always the sour apples of the group.

But what is so bad about the UK? I am planning on going there before I move back to Canada, so I'm rather curious, lol. I'm going to Manchester to see my great uncle.

I cant comment on Americans as I dont personally know any, but I will never visit the place as some of the politics and religious fervor over there scares the life out of me!

Bush scares me even more. I hope that Brown doesnt Brown-nose him as much as Blair did.

I love America & Americans, have been 3 times to America- Florida, Philli & New York & can't wait to go back. I love the friendlyness & cheesyness, LOL

I have been to Canada twice awell & love it to- we have relatives there.

The weather, the rude people, the litter. Most people dont have any pride, or respect for others. Sheffield used to be really nice but its so horrible now. Theres a small place in town where theyve glamed it all up and have police or 'community support' or what ever there all the time telling people off. It gives a lovely inpression but it isnt like that every where else. Maybe its just because i live here and have to see it all the time? :rotfl:

Iv been to manchester a few times and the city centre seems really nice.

I love Canada's image when it comes to the goverment and our army. It's all about peace and loveeee... no weapons of mass destruction for Canadians, hehe. We're like the llittle kids who don't notice our pants are backwards, LOL.

Bush scares me a lot, too. As does Texas.

One thing I have never seen over here is a rude American. In the Uk. They are always so happy, as if you are doing them a favour letting them be here. I love them.

I have never been to America.

I will second that...however I did visit america the people were nice but very OTT lol..I just found it hard to embrace..but there Im used to the miserable people of england it was bound to come as a culture shock.

When I came to Holland, I was very very depressed, because I'm used to being able to have friendly conversation with strangers at the bus stops. Everyone's your friend there. :( So I suppose it's the opposite for us.

Nope. Most of the people who're doing drugs over here are actually young men from the UK looking for a "good time". :rotfl:

i used to have a teacher that was from Canada and he said no one locks there doors there because its so safe, he went away for a couple of months came back and the house was as he left it :rotfl: Thats the kinda place i wanna live :D

He wasn't joking around either, Jenna. My family has never had the need to lock our doors.
:)

I went to america when i was 10 (Phoenix, Arizona) and we travelled around a lot because we were there for a month. We went all over arizona,to LA, San Diego, and Mexico. The people were really friendly and it is very over the top (but i suppose customer services have to be that way as tips make up the majority of their wages).
We lived with a very wealthy family as my cousin was a nanny for them at the time and we had dinner with many other wealthy families. they were all very nice and extremely hospitable. So my experiance whilst there was good.
However some areas of america really scare me. also just the fact that they think they are better than the rest of the world and that they feel the need to dictate how the rest of the world is run (the wars and stuff).

forgot to say when we were in LA we heard gunshots when we were driving around, it was quite scary!

I've seen a rude american, he was an effing tw*t :x And looked like that horse man thing off chronicles of Narnia!

I think that the US is overly glamourised.

Everythings kinda like the cat in the hat (the film) or edward sissor hands, everythings right neat and tidy and every ones right pally and happy all the time :rotfl: Bless em'
