Yet again I am upset because of the job centre.

A few months ago I had my claim taken off me because I 'failed' to contact the job centre 5 days after my work placement ended despite the fact I was told by my manager that the job centre will contact me.

I reclaimed a few weeks ago and today was my first signing on day. Something wasn't right as they couldn't find who I was being signed on with today, they couldn't find me on their system at all. One of the advisor's then took me to the side and told me my claim had been closed down again

My parents were waiting outside for me in the car so I went outside to go home, I was balling my eyes out. Mum asked what was wrong so I explained to her they had closed my claim because I failed to attend an appointment on the 23rd June. Mum went in there furious and asked for answers, telling them that I am pregnant and shouldn't be in this state as it's not good for my baby. The man who saw me a few minutes before told us to come through so we can sort this out. Turns out the job centre made a mistake with my appointment dates and so my claim was closed down because I failed to attend something the job centre failed to tell me about :(

I have to go to an appointment next week to reclaim my benefits again and to appeal basically. He said the advisor I saw at my very first appointment is willing to admit that she made a mistake and he photocopied some proof that I can show at the appeal to prove that I wasn't told about this appointment at all.

He was very lovely and helpful, even told me some tricks about benefits I can get when I'm pregnant. He gave me a tissue and told me not to be upset as well :) Both mum and I shook his hand before we left for his kindness and help.

So yeah, yet again I've lost my benefit through no fault of my own.
If any girls on here are on benefits, I advise you all to double check your appointments and always be sure. This was no fault of my own yes, but from now on I will be double checking with the job centre about any appointments I have with them.

:(

Oh dear, Im glad your mum was with you though, bloody job centre grrr!! im glad the guy you saw was helpful in the end xx

I am so glad my mum was with me too hun.
I would have been extremely upset now and wouldn't have got answers if she hadn't of gone in.
She wasn't even going to go with us today, I'm very glad she did.

I feel a big relief now that we've got help from that man, and the fact he printed out some proof for us is even better. xxx

it will surely get sorted then and hopefully be backdated so you may be in for a bit of help xx

Thats a nightmare - but glad to hear it worked out in the end.

I've heard of similar things a few times, them forgetting to send out appointment letters, and people being cut off because of it.

Cant really think of a way around this thing happening, apart from phoning them every couple of days just in case?!

:)

The jobcentre does my head in their nothing but pricks! They were sending me letters every week when i was heavily pregnant asking me to attend back to work meetings. Then they would cancel our claim... argh i could just go on and on about them!!! xxx

All job centers are different...the one in my town is dodgey..they didnt ask for any proper ID or anything with my address on she just signed it all off... and backdated it ...i could have lied by months and got it backdated and they probably would not have even questioned me! You can get income support from about 25 weeks i think? and then you dont have to go in at all! hope works out ok x
