Worrying about being pregnant with HG again

Do any of you worry about being sick during pregnancy again and how it affects everyone? I have had hyperemesis gavidarum (HG) with both of my boys pregnancies and was signed of work from 6-14wks with Harry and 6-16wks with James although I was ill all the way to 24weeks. It was a struggle with just one baby to look after last year and think it must get harder again!

I'm also worried about work, I started a new job at the start of April after my maternity leave and only did 3 weeks before being signed off sick for 8wks as I broke my foot whilst on holiday and they won't let me be there. Add to the fact I want to be pregnant this year and could be signed off for 8-9wks on ssp again. So worried about the financial side of drop in money plus the impact of not being at work and whether they will sack me or not!

Still really want to ttc though xx

Hi, sorry to hear you get HG in pregnancy. I cant even begin to imagine what that's like. Especially when you already have a little one. I was feeling sick from approx week 6-14 but was only actually sick a handful of times. The rest of the time I just felt sick. I remember resting and sleeping alot which I defo wont be able to do this time round so to answer your question; yes, i too worry about it and I hope I dont become hormonal and snappy to my little man. How did you cope the 2nd time round when you had a toddler to look after? did you have help during the day?

Yes I am a bit worried now I know what I'm in for. I wasn't really sick but felt constantly nauseous and if I smelt anything I didn't like it was unbearable! I lost half a stone in my first trimester because I couldn't eat anything!
I do wonder how I will manage with a toddler, i suppose il just get through it!
You can't help it if you need to be signed off, you and the baby are the important ones. Try and get as much help as you can so you can rest a bit, I know that is much easier said than done ! Xx

I feel your pain! I had HG in my 1st pregnancy, and was terrified second time round. I had barely any morning sickness at all, and my pregnancy was much easier, even with a young toddler! First child was a girl, second a boy. We're TTC no 3 now, and I'm dreading the thought of being so ill for so long again, but if I want another child, it's the risk I have to take!
