Hi guys,

i'll be 14 weeks tomorrow! i'm in my second tri and have been feeling much better, morning sickness is nearly gone (thank goodness) just have gag reflexes now and then, and I seem to have a bit more energy.

I'm not due to see the midwife until 2 weeks time, and I'm just worried as in the last few days I don't 'feel' pregnant, at the w/e I thought my tummy had bloated out a bit - but seems to have gone back to normal now.

Is there not a test or something else that I can do, just to put my mind at ease?

Us girls must get this all the time, but I don't fancy worrying for 2 more weeks until I see my midwife!

Thanks for any advice!

i just did another pregnancy test lol- have you had your first scan yet?

i used to ask myself two questions.

1) do i still feel hormonal?

2) do i still have an over developed sense of smell?

the answer to both was usually yes so i knew i still was.

Sandi

Yes have had first scan, last week.

But I don't feel hormonal - just happier! and not sure about smells, just smells the same this morning!

eek!

I feel like this all the time too! Think it's quite normal.

Try not to panic too much

Many PG symptoms pass after first tri as your body relaxes and the placenta takes over all the work for baby in there. If you feel ok and still feel you are PG then thats a good thing and to keep hold of the positive. Many women are like you around now as early PG symptoms fade but usually babies are doing fine in their Mum's tums.

You may have food cravings, still be peeing a bit more than normal (esp at night) and a few other smaller things. Also your body will change at a different rate to the next woman so don't panic if you seem to not have a bump atm. Bloating does happen and it can come and go.

Did you have a 12 week scan? Was all well then? If so please try to relax.

TBH, unless you have severe pain or bleeding or some such, I'd not worry too much. The 16 week appointment at your MW they may well listen for the heartbeat. But we all have to go a fair few weeks between appointments in these early days.

Some women get a doppler. While some pick up the LO's heartbeat reasonably well in amongst the other noises, others cannot and it sends them into more of a panic. So think carefully if its something you could handle and deal with. My worry when I got one was I'd become too reliant on it, so I limited my use of it and if I could not find the LO's heartbeat within a minute, I stopped and tried a day or so later. If I found it then I would only listen for 10-20 seconds and that was it. I didn't want it to become a crutch and to run to it every time I was worried about something. There were many times when I'd find it one day and not another, but I never panicked about it as everything felt fine to me with regards to my body.

Ah thanks for your replies girls! I'm trying not to worry but there are a million factors isn't it. I suppose until buba gets bigger and and I can feel them moving around then that will help with my worries.

I just feel a bit like my old self now. Apart from going to the toilet a lot - so thats a good sign! Forgot about that!

All was well with my scan. I think I'm still expecting massive changes to my body - but what with coming into my second tri it all seems to have slowed down - hence my worries!

I don't think I'll get one of those dopplers, I think it would worry me more if I couldn't hear anything.

Just wish there was something guarenteed that we could rely on to tell us all is ok, like a window into my tum, just to check buba is still in there - cos it doesn't feel like it a times!

!

Glad you are feeling better about things. The thing with this part of 2nd tri is that things do settle down, so we go from one extreme to the other. Soon enough you'll notice things going on, maybe a bit of tightening in the old trouser department, maybe boobs expand a bit more, maybe you just want to eat oranges and don't know why

And that sounds like a good decision about a doppler. They are not for everyone and if you feel you would worry more, its probably best to leave it be.

OMG I remember feeling like that, I had forgotten all about it. Yep you suddenly don't feel pregnant. Much like me now except I have a bump and a foot in my ribs so I can always be sure.

Don't worry you are! But buy a doppler if you want to hear the heartbeat for reasurrance. You can get an Angle sounds for around £30 and they tend to work from about 12 - 16 weeks so you might find it gives you peace of mind. Google should help you find one

If your really worried why not get a doppler to listen to the babys heartbeat?

It certainly put mine at ease after i hadnt felt him going on 25 weeks :)

I was coming on here this morning to post exactly the same question. I have spent the last two days saying to my OH that I dont feel pregnant and how I wish I was still feeling sick! He must be at his wits end as I have spent the last 10 weeks moaning about being sick :D Sherlock you always give such great feedback. I was considering the dopple, however knowing what kind of person I am, not finding a heartbeat one day would freak me out. I keep having 'shows' of yucky brown blood, like a discharge. I have one of these about every two weeks. It is not enough for a pad but just when I wipe. Even though my midwife said not to worry and I may be one of those women who experience this in pregnancy, I still spend a day of constant worry if this happens. It happened this morning and coupled with the worries that I do not feel as pregnant now, it really sent me into a spin today. I wonder if anyone else has this?
