Hi ladies,

Can anyone explain to me in a nutshell how working tax credits work? Whilst I'm on maternity and claiming SMP does my husband qualify?

I'm pretty shocked you don't get a reduction on council tax if you're on maternity either. Booooo...

Having a 'planning our finances' day.

Thanks ladies

I read this this morning funny enough!

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/pdfs/wtc1.pdf

Im sure he is still entitled to WTC If he is earning under a certain amount, over 25 and working 30 hours a week / or over 16, working at least 16 hours and you have another child.

I not sure how it works if when your normally working you have joint income over the threshold..??

Also you could go to http://taxcredits.hmrc.gov.uk/Qualify/DIQHousehold.aspx and put in your current circumstances

Hope this helps :)

God it's all way to confusing, do you apply for child tax credits when you've had baby? I really don't get it :( x
