I work nights, it only 2nights a week but still its hard work when I wasnt pregnant but now that I am its going to get a whole lot harder.
Anybody else work nights? If so how do you find it?
I am tierd pretty much most of the time at the moment and it didnt let up in my first pregnancy :-S

I don't work nights but I'm sure it's hard! I worked 2 full days but asked to do 4 half days and wasn't allowed but I went to the docs and got a fit note! Would it be possible to shorten ur shifts?

Hmm I supose I could see how it goes ( tonight is my first night since I have felt the effects) and it not I can see about shortening my shift if it gets to hard.
Thanyou

I went to the docs! (see another thread) and they wrote me a fit note to say I have to work shorter shifts!

I've not actually conceived yet, but I work up to 50 hours a week, over 6 days. So will be talking to my boss about a reduction in hours.

It's not unreasonable to ask x

I asked and was told no! So went to see the doc! :)

I work nights and its constantly running around and fast paced o and dealing with horrible abusive drunks, i must admit at the moment its killling me but luckily my boss is quite understanding and lets me have brakes when ever needed, maybe ask your boss if a short brake would be possible if you need it xx

I was working nights (on a shift pattern, not constantly) until I was 13 weeks, and honestly found it very difficult. Is there another shift you can switch to if you need to?

I am a carer for the elderly with dimentia
Very demanding at times. Some nights are really quiet and when it is quiet we get the cleaning done and that it but sometimes its mental and dont get any further forward.
Different shifts I cant do as my partner works normal hours and with a 4year old that is quite in school yet so it would be difficult

Iv got a 14 day stint of night shifts coming up and it's 50+ hours a week same as any normal week just at night. As I'm not far along il just have to man up and deal with it :(

I work 14 nights of 14 hour shifts in a row. I did find it most difficult in the first trimester when I felt very tired and had awful morning (all day!) sickness. It's important to try and sleep enough during the day and make sure you eat and drink properly. Try and take regular breaks, I know this is difficult as it can sometimes be very busy, like in my job, but that was only way I got through them. Now I'm in tri 2 I find it easier but Ill be finishing at 28 weeks as I don't feel it would be wise to continue much longer! X

nites are hard evan when ur not pregnant !!!! take it as easy as u can x

I do shift work, nights included and to be honest I find it easier on nights (I'm a theatre nurse) the pace is generally a bit slower, less people around, and I loooove going to bed in the morning when ibisually feel my worst lol, I did similar shifts with my other two pregnancies and although I was signed off and hospitalised earlyish in my second pregnancy I coped ok in my first (but then I didn't have any other children to worry about so could sleep loads) I think everyone's different and everyone copes differently at different times so if you struggle it would definitely be worth getting a change of shift or hours!

Good luck
X

Just take it easy and be honest with them x

Thanks ladies :)
I did my first shift back since I felt the effects of pregnancy, my partner let me sleep for a good 4 hours before I started work so that was good :)
It was one of the easier shifts so I managed alright
I have a meeting with the manager on wednesday so I will tell her then I think or should I wait abit? I am not sure qhen to tell???
