I need some opinions guys!

I handed my notice in on Monday as I have a new job. Monday morning however, my car broke down ):
It is currently being fixed but will take around 2-3 weeks. My notice is 2 and a half weeks.. I have asked work if I could borrow the spare car on the days I cant get in, and they're refusing to saying 'its not covered by insurance' yet when they need me to do them a favour, I am allowed to use it...
I don't know if they are doing this out of spite that im leaving or whether this actually is the case..

Do I go out of my way to find a lift to and from work every day or do I simply try to negotiate with them to leave earlier? - A lot of people at work are good contacts for my some of my family in their jobs and so I don't really want to leave broken bridges!

Any advice???

If I were in your shoes, I would go out of my way to get there and work my full notice. Leave with all bridges in tact and with your head held high. I went from a 45-minute commute to a 1.5/2-hour bus ride+lift to work when I was forced to give up my car. My only option at the time. Added an hour on each way but cost me a fraction of the price of running a car and paying for petrol. Did this for around a year while I saved up in order to launch my own business. Bloody horrendous 12-months that was but I did it and I suffered the massive upheaval for the sake of a long-term gain, so hopefully you will find a way to keep going for the sake of a couple of weeks - even if it involves taxis to work and back, which I can appreciate might not be ideal. Where there's a will, there's a way! Oh and congrats on the new job!

Thanks for your reply mylullaby!! :)

I took a few days off on the days I couldn't get in and tried my best to get lifts for the rest! I'm in my last week now so cant wait to start my new job! More so for my week off in between jobs haha! Im glad you managed to start up your own business :) and thankyou!! x

You're welcome. Hope your last few weeks have been ok - nightmare when you've handed in your notice and just want to get out of there and move on - know that feeling well. Best of luck with the new job - and enjoy your week off in between!! Take care xxx
