Well as some of you might know I was working in an office as a receptionist the week after I found out I was pregnant, the company worked around my pregnancy and were so kind about it. Unfortunately I had bad morning sickness and failed to go into work a few days, in fact one day I went in and got sent home due to being so ill, I cried in front of the managers as I felt I let them down but they were all so kind still.
The week after my birthday I failed to go into work. I felt so down and just wanted a break. I was working 9-5 whilst other staff got to go home early (including the main receptionist) I kinda felt used especially because they weren't giving me wages, the job centre were.
Anyway I lost my work placement and got told, "We have referred you back to the job centre, they will contact you shortly" by my manager.
It's been about 3/4 weeks since then but this week I got a letter in the post saying, "We cannot pay you for the 24th May, but you will continue to get your money every 2 weeks". So today I decided to get in touch with the job centre. After an hour on hold listening to that dreadful music, I got through only to be told that my claim had been closed down The man said that I failed to contact the job centre 5 days after my work placement ended so my money has been taken off me. He also said that the letter I received is wrong and I should have received a 'closing claim' letter
I was so upset I had to end the conversation quickly as I was welling up
I haven't ate properly for 2 days due to not having any money. In fact in 2 days, the only meal I had is a big mac meal.. which my mother in law bought (I'm a bad mum I know)
But I'm in my parents house now and have had a lovely salad/fish meal and some fruit.
I'll be staying here this weekend.
I have made a new claim for job seekers and have got to go to the job centre on Tuesday to do everything all over again.. I won't get money for another 2 weeks either.
I'm so angry and upset. I got my money taken off me through no fault of my own?! I know why though, because they will do anything to cut down on giving people money.
I'm thinking about appealing against this decision as I feel it's totally wrong, however I don't see the point because they won't sympathise. There's people out there that don't really want a job but are on job seekers and people pretending to be ill just to get benefits, why doesn't their money get stopped? I feel like the job centre have it in for my family as my Dad's benefit got taken off him just weeks before his second major heart surgery because he was "fit for work". My Dad will never be fit for work again.
Sorry for the long post I think I need a good cry. xxx
