My fat little chunky munky who was that hungry at 7 weeks he was on baby rice until he didn't need it anymore at 13 weeks is now at weaning age and will the little monkey eat anything, like hell! You go near him with a spoon and the tongue comes out and he'll lick a bit but thats it. I've tried all kinds of different foods and he's not in the slightest bit interested. He knows to open his mouth as he takes his teething gel off a spoon no problem but if its food the mouth stays shut and he just puts out his tongue. Anything you do manage to get in his mouth is straight back out.

HV said keep trying, rub food on his lip etc. This is the baby who used to polish off full bowls of baby rice and now wont even eat a mouthful.

His dad thought he might like a lick of his hot & spicy pringles as he was trying to grab it off him. He LOVES them! We tried him with a lick of pepperoni, he loves that too. Obviously I cant feed him pringles & pepperoni but is there anything I can make him thats kinda spicy like them as thats what he seems to enjoy :?

Not necessarily spicy, but could you try him on pumpkin or parsnip? I'm just thinking taste wise of something less bland than the usual weaning foods.
Would he be okay to have a bit of cinammon in some foods maybe - its in my weaning book in the 9-12months food recipes, but not sure if that for any other reason than keeping the first foods bland?

I know I personally hate spicy foods but when having him I loved them, stuff like peri-peri sauce, the hotter the better. Wonder if its that.

Never tried pumpkin, has that got a bit more kick?

he is till a month away from the "recommended" time for weaning, could you wait a week or so and then try him again? maybe then he'll be more accepting of it.

I think pumpkin just has a stronger taste, but is still naturally sweet......less bland than carrots/ courgette for example....maybe its the strong flavour he likes  as well as the heat which he seems to be attracted to

I know what you mean rusks, I wasn't too concerned but HV was saying keep at it, do this do that :?
They're looking at his weight not his age. OH's friend came round yesterday with his DD who was born on the same day as Eefie and only 1lb difference at birth and he looked HUGE next to her! She had these teeny tiny dinky feet and Eefie has fat sausage toes :rotfl:

As for heat Emma, it was about 30 degrees yesterday so I thought he might like his milk room temperature, not a chance lol! Had to warm it up to his favoured temperature before he'd have any. It was swealtering!

I'll leave him a week and try him with some pumpkin.

Alice loves having a suck on a bit of pepper! i pop it on the fridge so it is nice and cold, and she has a chew on it for ages!

Oooh I'll try that later Sam, I was craving red pepper like mad when I was having him.

Well since the meet last week, I don't know what Lady Libby said to him but he's ate twice a day since :cheer:
He loves the heinz rice pudding so its a start.

Thing is he'll flap his arms when he wants another spoonful and the moment you put it in his mouth he talks the whole time. He's very amusing to watch when he does it, its like silence, food goes in then he gives you a running commentary! BUT if he's eating it then that fine, he can talk with his mouthful if he likes that

glad it is going better long may it continue x
