if any of you (or your OHs) are window cleaners i got a question;

we recently had a 2-metre fence and gate put up at the end of our back garden; which has a bolt on the inside but not high enough to reach from the outside, so there is no access from the other side.
the window cleaners mate called to collect his money the other day, and i asked him how he'd gotten over to do the windows at the back. he told me he would have climbed over using his ladders. i dont mean to be sceptical, but cant help wondering things like, how did he get back over? how did he get his equipment over (ie. the bucket of water etc.)?
do u think he really did them or are we paying for only the front windows?
if climbing over walls and fences is what window cleaners do please tell me how its done, im curious! :think:

does he work alone! ?
if he works with someone then they can pass to one another.
my window cleaner climbs over my gate and does the back with the help from his mate.

maybe once he climbs over to get in, he unbolts it m then gets all his stuff - once finished climbs back over once all his stuff is out n the re bolts it?? :think:

good point!

*keeps sniffing for clues*

Do the windows in question actually look any cleaner? Any noticable changes? Were there any water puddles on the floor or evidence of footprints?

Get your magnifying glass out lol

weirdly enough i was going to ask the same questions and also...i moved into the house in nov and didnt ask him to clean them...he has and now wants money...so i said that i aint paying for it because he should have asked 1st ..can i do that? :think:

last night i dreamed of the window cleaner squeezing UNDER the gate complete with all his equipment. would this be poosible :think:

The back of my house has a high wall round it and a bolted gate which is always locked, I know they climb over to do the back windows cos usually Im sitting in the kitchen and see them do it (I should just go out and open the gate really :lol: )

A ladder each side perhaps, i.e. climb half way up and pull another ladder up and over the top so you have one either side. I've seen my DH do that with gardening work that involved say a tree next door hanging over our side or vice versa etc - I would inspect your windows or next time they are due a clean leave a finger print or two on the outside glass, a flake of wet grass or something....see if when they have been the marks etc have moved!

I don't know legally (although I should think they can't ask for money really)
I was in a similar position - had a note put through the door (we hadn't actually moved in when they did the windows!!) asking for £12 so I left the note outside and I wrote the date we moved in and that I would not be requiring a window cleaner THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
I never heard anything after that.
