I bought my mum a SatNav for her bday in January, from Argos. She's only used it 3 times, she used it today but was having problems with the touchscreen. I thought it was just her being useless with technology but it seems that the touchscreen is broken/naffed up!

The right-hand side of it doesn't recognise any touch, meaning you can't type things such as the letter 'R' I tried realigning the touchscreen in the options but that's not recognising the touch on the right side either so you can't even realign it.

I'm planning on taking it back and getting another one for her, will this be ok? Are they likely to argue with me? We still have everything it came with and the receipt and the original box.

You have the receipt and all the packaging.. if there is something wrong with it.. you should have no problem at all! :)

You're entitled to a full refund...

Like Foxxi said you are entitled to a full refund if you still have the reciept.

Providing you have the receipt you should get a refund or a replacement

They probably wouldnt refund that amount anyway to be honest, your only ENTITLED to a full refund within the first28 days. They shud gladly exchange it tho,

I used to work on the returns desk at argos.

I have never had any problems taking anything back from anywhere.. if there is something wrong with an item and you have the receipt ..even if its passed the 28 day thingy .. then I have always received a refund. Even in Argos. If they dont refund you, its affecting yor statutory rights.

If there was nothing wrong with the product and you just merely change your mind in having it... receipt or no receipt .. they do not have to give a cash refund.. either a credit note or vouchers to the value.

It's a sony one.
I've tried rebooting it and everything else I can think of - it just seems like the touch screen he right hand side isn't working. It's been well looked after and everything, and not used much at all!

I'll go tomorrow and plead my case!

After the 28 days ur contract is with the manufacturer not the shop - altho 9 times out of ten its easier for the shop to replace the item rather than loosing consumer trust
